Alexander Robert "Alex" Hirsch (born June 18, 1985) is an American animator, storyboard artist, voice actor, and television producer. He is best known as the creator of the Disney Channel animated television series Gravity Falls, where he voices some of the characters. He has previously worked as a storyboard artist on the Cartoon Network series The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack and the Disney Channel series Fish Hooks.

Early life

Hirsch was born in Piedmont, California on June 18, 1985. In 2007 he graduated from the California Institute of the Arts.

Career

Hirsch is most known for creating the series "Gravity Falls" for the Disney Channel. He provides the voice of Grunkle Stan, Soos, & Bill Cipher on that show.

Hirsch first started out as a writer and storyboard artist for The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack where he worked alongside and befriended fellow animators J.G. Quintel (who would go on to create Regular Show) and Pendleton Ward (who would go on to create Adventure Time).

Hirsch later moved on to be the writer, storyboard artist and creative consultant for Fish Hooks, which he also developed for television alongside Maxwell Atoms, where he portrays Clamantha, her father, Fumble, one of the fish police and a Ferret.

In 2013, Hirsch provided the voice of Officer Concord the Juice Time Juice Box Flavor Cop in the "Terrifying Tri-State Trilogy of Terror" episode of Phineas and Ferb, also on Disney Channel.

Personal life

He places many of his real-life experiences in the show, Gravity Falls, like living in Piedmont and trick-or-treating with his sister as cats. He based Mabel on his twin sister, Ariel Hirsch, and based the entire show loosely on his childhood summers. He gave Mabel a pig just like his sister had always wanted when she was a kid.
