- I'll see what I can do today. Book launch and (if it doesn't rain) ketoprak performance this evening, and in about an hour and a half I have to teach. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 03:07, 28 November 2014 (UTC)

- Ah, I know what THAT means ... Hafspajen (talk) 03:09, 28 November 2014 (UTC)
- Hopefully, so long as the lighting is up to par. My 60D doesn't handle noise as well as Diliff's Canon EOS 5D Mark III; for File:Gunawan Maryanto reading his poetry, PKKH UGM, 2014-11-25.jpg, for instance, he could probably have gotten the same degree of sharpness with much less downsampling, or even without any (according to this, his camera gets the same amount of noise at ISO 1600 that I do at ISO 200... am really considering buying a Mark III for low light photography, or Mark IV if that's come out before I save the money... being able to go to ISO 3200 without that much noise would allow much better concert and dance shots). — Crisco 1492 (talk) 03:26, 28 November 2014 (UTC)
- Better than buying cars all the time. Prose size (text only): 1340 characters (241 words) "readable prose size". Hafspajen (talk) 03:45, 28 November 2014 (UTC)
- Not too much cheaper, though — Crisco 1492 (talk) 03:54, 28 November 2014 (UTC)
- Really? I heard folks talk about equipment's and stuff - but never realized that part. Hafspajen (talk) 04:03, 28 November 2014 (UTC).
- Well, the 60D is almost $1000, and the 60D is almost twice that. The 5D mkIII is closer to $4000 than $3000... (actually, for my purposes the 6D may actually be better) — Crisco 1492 (talk) 04:18, 28 November 2014 (UTC)
- Oh, woew. Hafspajen (talk) 04:36, 28 November 2014 (UTC)
- Yeah, and that's before one gets to the lenses (a good lens for birding could easily cost more than the camera itself). — Crisco 1492 (talk) 04:38, 28 November 2014 (UTC)
- Ah, I know what THAT means ... Hafspajen (talk) 03:09, 28 November 2014 (UTC)
- Yep, photography is a rewarding but not a cheap hobby, that's for sure... Where the rabbit hole goes, even I don't know. :-) Although Crisco, I think you're right that the 6D is probably better for your purposes if money is tight. Better to spend the difference on a good prime lens. The main differences are shooting speed and autofocus, neither of which are that important really. I'd have considered the 6D too if it were around at the time I bought my 5D Mk iii. Or, if you don't need the 6D's features, you could actually get a second hand 5D Mk ii which is almost as good as the Mk iii. Ðiliff «» (Talk) 08:56, 28 November 2014 (UTC)
- Oh, the geographic coordinates and whatnot would be useful. I'd definitely go with the 6D rather than a second-hand Mk II. As for the lens... well, 1.5k (the 5D mkIII is going for Rp. 35,000,000 right now) is a fair bit of wiggle room, though I'd probably end up getting a ring flash, the adapter, and a 50mm speed lens rather than just one lens. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 12:21, 28 November 2014 (UTC)
- Sadly, the place was too crowded for me to feel comfortable there with the equipment. No ketoprak yet. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 12:22, 28 November 2014 (UTC)
- Hmm, I noticed the header 'I want this woman' and, as I'm just soooo modest, immediately thought "Oh, that must be me", so trotted all the way over here ... ... only to find you are all discussing camera lenses! Dejectedly trudges all the way back out again ... SagaciousPhil - Chat 12:29, 28 November 2014 (UTC)

Just a note
Hi Crisco, with this edit, you removed a nomination added by me a minute before. I wonder if you got any edit conflict ? --Vigyanitalk 02:33, 28 November 2014 (UTC)
- Sorry, yeah that was an EC. Please feel free to readd the nomination (or I can do it for you). That's what I hate about editing the full T:TDYK. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 02:35, 28 November 2014 (UTC)
- I had already done it before posting here. :) . --Vigyanitalk 04:59, 28 November 2014 (UTC)
- Crisco, you don't need to edit the whole T:TDYK when removing a date: just edit the date section, and strip out the contents including the header. I've never had a collision doing that. It's what I did a about an hour and a half ago when removing the "Articles created/expanded on September 19" section. BlueMoonset (talk) 05:37, 28 November 2014 (UTC)
- That's what I did. I don't know why it collides, but it's not from a lack of caution. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 06:10, 28 November 2014 (UTC)
- Crisco, I was informed by DYKHousingkeepingbot that my DYK nomination was not included on the nominations page, and realized that with this edit, you again removed my nomination. I am sure, you must have got an edit conflict this time too. WP software warns when an edit conflict occurs and shows the new texts and old texts. So, I can't understand how you ended up removing the nomination again. Please add my nomination in the correct date section. --Vigyanitalk 05:41, 29 November 2014 (UTC)
- Simple: the change didn't show up in the difference. I don't know why. T:TDYK definitely needs to have its fat trimmed. It's difficult to edit on slower connections. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 07:16, 29 November 2014 (UTC)
Template:Did you know nominations/Jill Stuart redux
Crisco, I was wondering whether you could revisit this and see whether the POV issues have been dealt with to your satisfaction. I know that some of the text that Panyd objected to still exists, but the phrasing has been revised here and there. I rather doubt "leading ladies" is appropriate, for example, but if that's an isolated incident it can be fixed. Thanks for checking. BlueMoonset (talk) 05:24, 28 November 2014 (UTC)

Somebody deleted Fawn puppy!
DO YOU
- Oh, sorry. OK; one more problem. Which one of them for lead pic? Hafspajen (talk) 08:46, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
- These are all very nice. What about the Fawn Thai puppy for the lead? — Crisco 1492 (talk) 08:48, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
- OK: Fawn Thai puppy for the lead. We are done. Hafspajen (talk) 09:00, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
Here goes someone saying we put an inappropriate picture and suddenly it is deleted. Inappropriate? - https://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=Puppy&diff=624871996&oldid=624781928 Wonder if this wasn't foul play, deleting it, just to put the other back. Hafspajen (talk) 06:53, 29 November 2014 (UTC)
- You bet it was, look here , 18 september. https://commons.wikimedia.org/search/?title=File:Fawnpuppy.jpg&action=edit&redlink=1
- This is from... September. And the discussion was from April. I don't remember what the file page was like. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 07:20, 29 November 2014 (UTC)
- You bet it was, look here , 18 september. https://commons.wikimedia.org/search/?title=File:Fawnpuppy.jpg&action=edit&redlink=1
- Yes, that was the one we chose for the lead, Grey fawn puppy lead pic. It was in the article since then. But the previous led pic of a blurry Golden pup is back in 9 September, the photographer adds it back (own pic, mypetpic), and the other get deleted 18 September. Ha, weird enough. Hafspajen (talk) 07:26, 29 November 2014 (UTC)
- Yeah, we definitely need a better lead image. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 07:28, 29 November 2014 (UTC)
- I put the Basset as a lead pic, but if somebody starts nominating that one to I am going to be cross. Hafspajen (talk) 07:29, 29 November 2014 (UTC)
- What do they mean = No source since 18 September... does the source fall off? We were using that pic in several articles. Hafspajen (talk) 08:32, 29 November 2014 (UTC)
- We need to have access to the file page to check that. I'm not an admin on Commons. Do you know anyone who is? — Crisco 1492 (talk) 08:39, 29 November 2014 (UTC)
Yann - I think. Hafspajen (talk) 08:47, 29 November 2014 (UTC) Found pic, by doing an image search - it was this. down on the page... http://www.notinthedoghouse.com/breeds/thai-ridgeback/ Hafspajen (talk) 08:55, 29 November 2014 (UTC)

- Well, until Crisco and I can get dozens of pics done of our dogs to add to all of the breed articles (and anywhere else we can include them under the flimsiest of reasons), I suppose we best try to work with some of these? (that was a joke, by the way!) Although the image of the fox red lab is nice, I think it looks like an adult rather than a puppy? SagaciousPhil - Chat 12:29, 30 November 2014 (UTC)

Advice
Before I oppose this (a very rare action for me), does this make any sense to you? Are there commons rules I'm not aware of? --Godot13 (talk) 00:51, 1 December 2014 (UTC)
- For colours or crop? The people at Commons would likely consider the crop okay (as a detail). — Crisco 1492 (talk) 00:52, 1 December 2014 (UTC)
- Wow... It seems so wrong to feature a detail of a painting without having to feature the whole painting. I'm glad I checked with you...--Godot13 (talk) 00:56, 1 December 2014 (UTC)
