Can someone please expend and complete this one: Draft:Division of Korean History by period?
Thank you.--Sayom (talk) 21:36, 9 August 2014 (UTC)

I was asked to created this and now doing this (Again). @Sayom: Planning to finish this by end of September. — revi 13:43, 16 September 2014 (UTC)

Reliable sources in need of feedback

The talk page of reliable sources is in need of feedback especially from those who are familiar with the sites. Thanks. ☴ Jaewon 18:31, 30 August 2014 (UTC)

@Kkj11210, Teemeah, Hym411, Piotrus, and Evaders99: Can any of you check the talk page out above? ☴ Jaewon 16:33, 23 September 2014 (UTC)

Go Eun-bi

There is currently a request by a contributor to this newly-created article to find pre-death Korean sources for this person. Can someone help? Narutolovehinata5 14:48, 3 September 2014 (UTC)

Currently, this article seems like a landmine. See Talk:Go Eun-bi#Proposed merge with Ladies' Code. ☴ Jaewon 13:54, 14 September 2014 (UTC)

new editor article creation Jeju’s Tamnagook kingdom

This appears to have been refused at article creation but created anyway, can someone check it out please. It isn't linked to ko.wp In ictu oculi (talk) 00:19, 5 September 2014 (UTC)

Copyedited & merged to Tamna, pre-existing article with saner title. 61.10.165.33 (talk) 01:25, 5 September 2014 (UTC)

Wikiproject template

@Kkj11210, Hym411, Evaders99, and Teemeah: I added Template:Korea current date to Template:WikiProject Korea/sandbox. Good or bad idea? ☴ Jaewon 22:30, 14 September 2014 (UTC)

I don't think all Wikiproject-Korea related articles are in Korea. — revi 03:41, 15 September 2014 (UTC)
True, a lot of articles get tagged because of birth (except for Busan-born Daniel Dae Kim for some reason). ☴ Jaewon 14:59, 15 September 2014 (UTC)
Yes, and aspects of the Korean diaspora get tagged too. WhisperToMe (talk) 08:21, 28 September 2014 (UTC)

Korean name infobox

Would it be helpful to add the Korean name infobox to more music group pages (e.g. like on Exo (band) and Nine Muses (band))? I ask because I added one to A Pink and another editor reverted it because he didn't think it was needed. I personally think it is useful information to have on group pages. --Random86 (talk) 04:55, 17 September 2014 (UTC)

@Random86: I use it to prevent people from adding korean text in the name parameter like A Pink and Hyuna. We need to have a discussion with other wp korea members about the over-usage of korean names else this kind of problem will continuously happen. ☴ Jaewon 12:51, 17 September 2014 (UTC)
@Jay2kx: Getting back to this topic, I don't see why the Korean name needs to be underneath the English name in the musical artist infobox. The Korean name is already in the lead text of the article. Is that what you were referring to? Has this ever been discussed before? --Random86 (talk) 23:01, 8 October 2014 (UTC)
@Random86: Yes. I'm sure it has been discussed before but this wp is so small (in my opinion) that one person's views can dominate. ☴ Jaewon 00:18, 9 October 2014 (UTC)

Knowledge Search

Is this mess an attempt to write up about the Naver KiN service? Kin.naver.com seems to be a very important service in Korea. If someone could copyedit this mess into something more useful, I'd very much appreciate it. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 07:02, 25 September 2014 (UTC)

Better to merge it section in Naver, I think. — revi 03:40, 2 October 2014 (UTC)

Comment on the WikiProject X proposal

Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Misplaced Pages struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:47, 1 October 2014 (UTC)

Suicide in South Korea

I am planning on expanding and reorganizing the article on “Suicide in Korea”. Despite the article’s significance, the article lacks in substantial sources and content, and it is rated as “Start Class” in WikiProject Korea. I will replace “Trends” section with “Statistics” section, expand significantly on “Causes” and “Response” sections, and add “Consequences” section. I also hope to add more sources on the “References” section, mostly scholarly articles and data from WHO. I would appreciate any kind of suggestions on scholarly readings regarding the “Consequences” section of my article, and any kind of feedback for the article. I hope to get a better rating for this article, since it holds so much significance in the Korean society. Thanks!

Lindaticket (talk) 01:14, 2 October 2014 (UTC)

The article is well written and expanded. The only other thing I can suggest for you is to include figures (like charts, etc) and trends throughout the years. Tibbydibby (talk) 17:47, 26 October 2014 (UTC)

Requested move

Hello. There is currently a move discussion concerning the K-pop artist Jeong Eun-ji. The discussion is whether to have 'Jeong Eun-ji' or 'Jung Eun-ji' as its article title. The discussion is at Talk:Jeong Eun-ji#Requested move. If you wish to comment, please do so there, instead of replying here. KJ 07:56, 9 October 2014 (UTC)

Translating the Welcome to Misplaced Pages brochure to Korean

Perhaps someone would like to help with this? See this (Welcome brochures section). I'd love to use them in my class in addition to the English brochures. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 07:06, 29 October 2014 (UTC)

Any mistakes in the Korean in this image?

If any Korean-speaking Wikipedians are interested...

Please compare everything in Korean in File:Seatmap of Air China Flight 129 (ko).svg (except the Korean in the box since that content was originally in Korean) and check if it is a proper translation of File:Seatmap of Air China Flight 129 (en).svg

Thank you! WhisperToMe (talk) 09:28, 31 October 2014 (UTC)

I see some error on translations, but I don't know how to edit svg files.... — revimsg 10:14, 31 October 2014 (UTC)
Thank you for checking! Thre Korean version has been fixed. WhisperToMe (talk) 09:25, 1 November 2014 (UTC)

Translation request

Hello, help is needed to translate the following text into Korean:

"Please do not contribute text in Korean to English Misplaced Pages. Your contributions are more than welcome at the Korean Misplaced Pages."

It will be a warning template at Template:Not English. Thanks. – Gilliam (talk) 08:33, 4 November 2014 (UTC)

I thought similar template exist... anyway here it is:

Thank you very much. Please review the new warning template at Template:Contrib-ko1.– Gilliam (talk) 10:10, 5 November 2014 (UTC)

Dong Seoul Terminal

Are we missing an article on this entity (also Dong Seoul Bus Terminal) or just a redirect? Some sources I find suggest it is located next to Gangbyeon Station (or are they the same entity)? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 09:27, 5 November 2014 (UTC)

Indeed we are missing an article. I'll create one with translation from kowiki. (Also, it's different with Gangbyeon station.)  revimsg 09:56, 5 November 2014 (UTC)
Great. I'll pass by the terminal probably on Saturday, so I'll take some pictures.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:40, 6 November 2014 (UTC)
@-revi: Any estimate when can you stub the entry? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:26, 14 November 2014 (UTC)
Probably this weekend. (If not, next monday or tuesday.)  revimsg 04:34, 14 November 2014 (UTC)

Hari

Hari (singer) was PRODed since it didn't have any references. I added what I could find but needs somebody who is familiar with the singer. ☴ Jaewon 16:46, 8 November 2014 (UTC)

Added one reference, but I think I can get more since my new reference says her new album will be published next week.  revimsg 16:12, 11 November 2014 (UTC)
Thanks. ☴ Jaewon 16:31, 11 November 2014 (UTC)

Split discussion

I have started a split discussion at here. Any comment will be appreciated.  revimsg 13:33, 13 November 2014 (UTC)

Towns on Yeongjongdo?

I did some c/e, but the small town where the Yongguksa Temple (photos coming soon) is located doesn't even seem to be mentioned in the island article. Nor does it seem to have a name on Google Map, which just shows dongs (districts?). Which, in fact, doesn't mention any existing settlements. Oh, and the Haesoopia Spa entry seems somewhat spam/promotional. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:39, 14 November 2014 (UTC)

Misplaced Pages supports K-pop 'slave contracting', it seems

For example, the layout of Template talk:K-pop group members table places the slave name (in-band stage name) before the persons legal/born-name, e.g. of Red_Velvet_(band)#Members, Wendy Son is notable in her own right (and has a page). However, in the table she is first named, Wendy, in the stage name column - thus, this is the appropriate place the wiki-link the name (it's piped), whilst Wendy Son is linked-orphaned - generally, this seems dehumanising, and to positively support slave contracting, as well as continuously breaking/stressing WP:NOPIPE.

I'd like you know of: others thoughts on Misplaced Pages support of slave contracts, where such matters have achieved prior consensus, and ideas on modifying Template talk:K-pop group members table, to make legal-names the first instance. – Ian DjScrawl (talk) 02:23, 18 November 2014 (UTC)

I'm in support of maintaining the status quo of using the stage name in the table first and using it to link to the main article.
  1. The stage name is generally the WP:COMMONNAME for the subject. Members are known more for their stage names, and thus it makes sense to place the stage names first as a means of identification. For instance, if you are familiar with Girls' Generation, you probably heard of the name Tiffany, but not her real names, 'Stephanie Young Hwang' or 'Hwang Mi-young.' Putting the later names in front will just confuse the readers who is expecting a clear presentation of the data.
  2. Classifying the stage name as a 'slave name' is just WP:IDONTLIKEIT. The personal choice of the member concerning his stage name cannot be known, and it's a non sequitur fallacy to assume so. In any case, stage names aren't that different from the members' real names in a notable number of cases. For instance, every member in the group A Pink uses their first names as the stage name, as well as 4Minute and AOA; this is true for 3 members out of 4 in Girl's Day, 3 out of 4 in Wonder Girls, and 5 out of 6 in 2PM, to name a few. Eliminating parts of the real name to present the well-known version of that name is hardly unreasonable.
  3. Piping the stage name in the table does not follow any of the instances given in WP:NOPIPE. The piping falls under the first criterion of Misplaced Pages:Piped link#Use as changing the wording of the article title to fit context. If it is agreeable that the stage name should be presented first, then piping is appropriate, sometimes even necessary.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Kkj11210 (talkcontribs)

Images from Ministry of National Defense (S. Korea) available!

Recently I contacted Ministry of National Defense, and I successfully convinced them to change their flickr's license to CC BY SA 2.0 (one of default flickr CC licenses). So, after batch uploading is done, you can use it for English Misplaced Pages article related to them. I'll post the link to Commons category soon. Thanks, — Revi 13:32, 26 November 2014 (UTC)

How did you convince them? ☴ Jaewon 19:49, 26 November 2014 (UTC)
Simply I sent request to them. Whatever, upload is done: see c:Category:Photographs by the Korean Ministry of Defense. Thanks, — Revi 04:49, 27 November 2014 (UTC)
