Astrobiology

My problem is not with what biologists do. It's with the claim about what physicists do. It's absolutely not the case that physics asserts that everything mathematically possible exists per force. Physics allows for many possible phenomena that physicists don't necessarily believe exist - primordial black holes, wormholes, etc. The sentence clearly needs to be reworded or scrapped entirely. —Swpb 13:46, 26 October 2014 (UTC)

@Swpb: Thank you for the note. My experience in the published literature and in the field is that when physicists compute the possibility of liquid water on Mars, they formally declare it habitable, even if it is a temporary water microfilm bathed in cosmic radiation, while they ignore the essential additional requirements for habitability. Anyway, instead of expanding in this miscommunication that happens often between the 2 disciplines, we can just drop the "Unlike physicists". CDG update

With the Ayotzinapa case on the headlines, I think this news won't garner enough attention. Rogelio González Pizaña was released a few months ago and is apparently back in the game to restore the "old school" of the CDG-Zetas, according to the narcomantas. Seems User:Dienerto (contribs), without discussion, has been rewriting several articles (ie, Viroid; RNA world hypothesis; Potato spindle tuber viroid; Circular RNA; Non-cellular life) - in order to promote himself, his own studies and his own WP:POV - in addition - seems the editor is attempting to remove references to other studies, again without discussion, that may not agree with his own studies or WP:POV - the editor may (or may not) be correct in the contents - a closer look at the edits may be indicated - nonetheless - possible issues of WP:COI, WP:PROMO, WP:OWN, and WP:SPA may apply - comments welcome - in any case - Enjoy! :) Drbogdan (talk) 21:28, 16 November 2014 (UTC)

@JimRenge: Thank you. But I do not expect any action to be taken against Robert Walker. He has been in Misplaced Pages many years and knows exactly how to skirt its policies and spirit in order to feed off drama. He is the proverbial fly on the cake. I am still hoping for restrictions as a result of the ANI discussion. It's 12 support against 7 oppose now. Involved editors are really fed up by his 1000 comments in January and about 2000 in December . It looks like a campaign. JimRenge (talk) 00:47, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

IMO, short of a complete ban, specific topic bans would be the best. Notice he does little editing at all, he seeks and craves attention in talk pages. This has been going on for years; he knows the system's weaknesses and exploits them to feed his need for drama and attention. Admins have looked into him in the past and let him loose every time, so I do not expect any action now because they inadvertently taught him how to perpetuate this behavior. You will see; and the only truly effective way to deal with him is the "do not feed the trolls" technique. Ignore him and just hide his forum assays and spam. Re: Abiogenesis

Lead sentence does not meet the standards of Misplaced Pages core content policies

Misplaced Pages was founded on the fundamental principle that its content must fall under certain criteria to be admissible. One criterion is that it must submit to a neutral point of view ( see WP:NPOV ), another is that it must be verifiable. (See WP:VER ) "Abiogenesis is the natural process of life arising from non-living matter such as simple organic compounds" does not meet these standards, whereas "abiogenesis is the hypothetical natural process of life arising from non-living matter such as simple organic compounds" does. Since it is not verifiable that life arose through natural processes, saying so is not a neutral point of view and therefore not acceptable.66.190.249.214 (talk) 21:18, 29 March 2015 (UTC)
