Hi, I saw your very nice gesture on my talk page. I replied with a message there. I'm writing now because I was hoping you could educate me on something. Based on the barnstar you left me, I assume you know somehow about an editor named Winkelvi who has been, let's say, less than friendly to me. My question is about something he did during a talk page discussion at ]. Another editor named Joseph A. Spadaro started the discussion and I agreed with him on his position, and explained why. Winkelvi disagreed with the two of us. Winkelvi kept posting subsequent replies to me that were condescending and, more importantly, ignored the issues that were being raised by me and the other editor. No one else participated, except the three of us. That is until Winkelvi then went to the talk pages of two editors, SNUGGUMS and Cwobeel, and posted biased messages asking for their help. Right after Winkelvi did that, the other two editors went to the Jared Fogle talk page and posted short replies in support of Winkelvi's position. I just posted a long response to the "lobbying" and other issues there. My question for you is.. Is an editor is allowed to do that; to go and directly lobby apparent allies on their talk pages and present a very biased account against the editor with whom they disagree? Just wondering if there are any rules regarding doing something like that? It seems very unethical. Your guidance would be appreciated. Thanks and nice meeting you. Easy, please
I am not looking to engage with you in any way or manner, given the past issues that you are well aware of. That article is off my watchlist. - Cwobeel (talk) 05:10, 21 August 2015 (UTC)
- Cwobeel - you have been repeatedly and very pointedly cautioned not to post on this Talk page by multiple admins. I'm unclear what you think you'll achieve by continuing to do so after being explicitly told the potential ramifications for further transgressions of this type. In a spirit of de-escalation I'm going to simply ignore this latest bad behavior rather than call the attention of your monitors to it. BlueSalix (talk) 05:24, 21 August 2015 (UTC)
Guidance needed
Hi, I saw your very nice gesture on my talk page. I replied with a message there. I'm writing now because I was hoping you could educate me on something. Based on the barnstar you left me, I assume you know somehow about an editor named Winkelvi who has been, let's say, less than friendly to me. Contrary to allegations, it is innocuous.
Through your recent discussion with Someguy1221 on WP:COIN, it came to my attention you opine concern for my username, alleging WP:CORPNAME, WP:PROMOTIONAL and WP:COI, and claiming my 2011 edit to Caribou Coffee WP:UNDUE. On COIN, you make clear the substantial point behind your allegations and claim is CORPNAME as you see it in my username. I am reaching out to discuss directly the source of my nom de plume Cariboukid: it is a nickname given me relative to the actual animal commonly called caribou, not a hot beverage purveyor, well before and very much unrelated to Caribou Coffee's existence, both in fact and in name. It specifically stems from helping a friend wrangle one of his domesticated caribou for a photo shoot in late 1985, the friend jokingly used a title malapropism from the 1984 movie The Karate Kid in describing my seemingly futile efforts. It stuck, and has been teasingly used by him and other friends in the know to this day. To further alleviate your concern, I make the following COI declaration: other than the occasional consumption of their retail product, I do not have now, nor ever had, any personal or professional affiliation, connection, relationship, stock/investments/fiduciary interest, etc., in, with or to Caribou Coffee.
The above, along with the textual portion of my edit being factually sourced from a published newspaper article, reported by a reliable independent media outlet, not being my opinion nor PROMOTIONAL, disallows UNDUE claim for the edit in question. Cariboukid (talk) 16:31, 23 August 2015 (UTC)
