This user values third opinions and occasionally provides one. |
You may request a Misplaced Pages:Third Opinion on disputes arising from minor difference of opinion on edits done to pages. Please append an entry to my Talk page so we can look at what is taking place. Third Opinions should be solicited as a form of Misplaced Pages:Requests_for_comment as part of the Misplaced Pages:Resolving_disputes process prior to requesting formal arbitration.
Public Watch List
See my User:Damotclese User page for details about which pages I work with.
Current Activities
Updated 01/May/15
- I reduced the number of RFC channels that I'll respond to, there are just so many pages one can watch or maintain or answer discussions about in a day, and I've been getting bogged down in wilderness safety training this year.
- Taking a look again at the Scientology crime syndicate's The Delphian School page which is basically a stub.
- Finished adding section Examples of Situation Awareness On The Job to Situation Awareness -- The page continues to be updated from time to time however a formal re-write to organize the page really is needed.
- Looked at Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada which has a conflict on-going. One of the issues right now on that article is that it lacks WP:NPOV in that the phrase false allegations is not neutral. That was resolved however it is still subject to ideology-based edits so I continue to watch it.
- The Crystal Lake Recreation Area page had a Talk comment about how some section of it appearsed to be advertising. I need to fix that but also the page is generally containing obsolete information. UPDATE: The individual who suggested the page contains advertising never responded for specific suggestions on how to correct the text she found needed to be fixed.
- Need to create Curve Fire page. It is referenced in various places, notably the Windy Gap Trail page. UPDATE: The history of the Curve Fire may be getting supplanted on the Internet by the effects of the Colby Fire which also needs a page to be created.
- (Finished) Talk:M-87_Orkan Chemical munitions were not found deployed in Iraq, nor were any such munitions interdicted on their way to Iraq. Responded to RFC. UPDATE: The RFC was adopted however the page still needs to be watched in case the issue returns.
- Looking at the Boy Scouts of America entry, thinking that it is greatly inaccurate though noting that it is not very likely that the religious among us will welcome accurate updates to the entry. Update: The entry on the BSofA is being updated routinely anyway so I won't be doing any active editing.
- Bridge To Nowhere in the San Gabriel Mountains -- The trail along East Fork is covered by several million pounds of rock at about 1.56 miles in, North 34 degrees 15.440 by West 117 degrees 45.053 at 2271 feet altitude.
- Resolved and closed a dispute on the File 18 entry -- which was a silly dispute easily ruled.
- Seven Laws of Noah Wiki entry dispute has been abandoned.
- Watching MMR vaccine controversy again since a WP:SAP is making inappropriate edits despite assistance from a number of editors to revert broken links and other ideology-based proposed updates.
- Also I have to wonder what happened to User:BiologistBabe who was working on a number of pages. She works in the arena of infectious diseases so I hope nothing happened to her.
- Adding Scientology's Narconon frauds to my watchlist since there are a number of criminal indictments and civil lawsuits which will likely prompt further vandalism from Scientology people. In fact I suppose I should dive back in to that mess for a while since there will be a push to vandalize Scientology pages when David Miscavigie is dragged in to court in Comal County, Texas.
- Safety of electronic cigarettes added since the RFC responses was ignored.
- Some of the warring editors in this have been sending our solicitation emails to people asking them to come and take their sides in the discussion.
Pacific Crest Trail Association
There needs to be a new page for Pacific Crest Trail Association which is being referenced on the Pacific Crest Trail page. That should be created along with the Angeles_volunteer_association and San Gabriel Mountains Trailbuilders and West Fork Conservancy pages, all of which work on or surrounding the PCT. Damotclese (talk) 17:56, 17 June 2013 (UTC)
- AVA page created today Damotclese (talk) 19:32, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

Because I get a lot of RFC requests I move them to archives, generally twice a year. If you are looking for previous information on my Talk, you can find them in these archives. I used to just delete old stuff so if you're wanting to go back even further, ah well, that's too bad, it's gone forever:
- For the year 2013, my Archive #1: Is Found Here
- For six months of 2014, my Archive #2: Is Found Here
- For the rest of 2014, my Archive #3: Is Found Here
- For five months of 2015, my Archive #4: Is Found Here

The RFC is not formatted properly so we don't know if there are editors who are discussing the question or just one editor asking for a distinction. Regardless the question can be resolved by doing some Google searching. Damotclese (talk) 17:51, 4 January 2016 (UTC)

What constitutes a specific labeling of a style of music is often a matter of opinion, heavy rock-n-roll is often called "metal" by a great many people however others will consider "metal" to be more "angry" than traditional rock... So there is a blurring of distinction. More information is better than less. Damotclese (talk) 16:53, 29 January 2016 (UTC)

The feedback request service is asking for participation in this request for comment on Misplaced Pages:Requests for comment/Economy, trade, and companies. Legobot (talk) 04:28, 2 March 2016 (UTC) I commented on this. It's rare for me to get annoyed at an editor however I find that the need for this RFC is not valid, one of the editors obviously has some ideological reason for excluding a school from a list of accreditation and has not offered any valid reasons for doing so. Waste of time, editors shouldn't be engaged in petty reverting of other volunteer's valuable time and efforts. Damotclese (talk) 17:15, 3 March 2016 (UTC)

Formal mediation has been requested
The Mediation Committee has received a request for formal mediation of the dispute relating to "European Graduate School article content - Accreditation issue". As an editor concerned in this dispute, you are invited to participate in the mediation. Mediation is a voluntary process which resolves a dispute over article content by facilitation, consensus-building, and compromise among the involved editors. After reviewing the request page, the formal mediation policy, and the guide to formal mediation, please indicate in the "party agreement" section whether you agree to participate. Because requests must be responded to by the Mediation Committee within seven days, please respond to the request by 19 March 2016.
Discussion relating to the mediation request is welcome at the case talk page. Thank you.
Message delivered by MediationBot (talk) on behalf of the Mediation Committee. 07:49, 12 March 2016 (UTC)

The feedback request service is asking for participation in this request for comment on Talk:2016 U.S.–Iran naval incident. Legobot (talk) 04:27, 15 March 2016 (UTC) This should be a no-brainer. I commented on this. The information being discussed is encyclopedic and news-worthy, and researchers should not be looking everywhere else for information that should be included in this volunteer encyclopedia. More information is better than less and so far as I could tell, the opposition to including the information was ideological, not encyclopedic. Damotclese (talk) 16:47, 16 March 2016 (UTC)

We ourselves to not propose any control measures or mitigating measures, we get the local agency documentation and open our transports up to their inspection schedules. The feedback request service is asking for participation in this request for comment on Talk:Kodak Black. Legobot (talk) 04:25, 27 June 2016 (UTC) The RFC is not worded properly however I commented. The person the article is about is not notable, he or she is a nobody so the article should be deleted. Damotclese (talk) 15:51, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
- You have been here a long time Damotclese so I'm surprised by your comment. This guy is well past the threshold of WP:notability. See Talk:Kodak_Black#Kodak_Black_--_notability_sources. Koala Tea Of Mercy (KTOM's Articulations & Invigilations) 17:19, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
- As for the "not worded properly" issue, I went to the {{rfc}} template page which does not discuss wording, it just states that
"This template should immediately precede the signed (or just dated) text of the request."
If there is a problem with the wording then those instructions should be mentioned on the template page. Koala Tea Of Mercy (KTOM's Articulations & Invigilations) 17:27, 27 June 2016 (UTC)- Um no, individuals with zero relevance and notoriety of any kind do not qualify to be included in encyclopedias, however it is understood that Misplaced Pages falls far short of being a professional encyclopedia, even zeros like this man or woman who nobody has ever heard of may be added by anybody. So my comment remains factual, the page qualifies for summary deletion -- though of course nobody cars enough to bother. And yeah, the RFC was not worded properly. Damotclese (talk) 20:28, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
- Please point me to the Misplaced Pages policies for "relevance" and "notoriety" as they relate to inclusion of topics on Misplaced Pages? I found WP:Relevance and WP:ROC but they both deal with content within an article, not the main subject. I am using WP:Notability and WP:MUSICBIO as my criteria and an individual who has been written up in 6 major publications and described in them not just as "yet another rapper" but rather as an "artist to watch" and "shaping the future of pop" is well above the minimum threshold for the official WP policies I mentioned. - Wow, this person needs to go home to its mother and cry about it. Looking at the page I agree, the page should be deleted, it's just for some random guy who gave himself a fake name and then expects to pretend he's famous or something. BiologistBabe (talk) 15:26, 28 June 2016 (UTC)
- Ha! I know, the editor did not like the responses to the RFC and amusingly the "citations" that try to show that the nobody is somebody are laughingly pathetic. I'm more well known around the world and a Google search brings up over 300,000 pages that cover my law enforcement work and civil rights work, maybe I should create a page for myself, call myself "Green Kangaroo" and pretend I'm famous also. :) Damotclese (talk) 15:38, 28 June 2016 (UTC)
- I saw that, should I comment on that page? If you Google that name, you find that the person isn't a celebrity or anything. It belongs in a local city page of notable people, perhaps, but the person is not legitimately notable.
- By the way, I Googled your name and I find a third of a million pages with your name on them, and if I us your middle initial, I get half a million pages thanks to your web site and your organized crime work. So yeah, if that nobody can have a Misplaced Pages page, you certainly qualify ha ha. TrainsOnTime (talk) 20:19, 28 June 2016 (UTC)
- No need, the page is not important, the clown editor not important. And yeah, I saw BB's Facebook posting about the google searching results -- hilarious but my main web site has half a million pages so it's not surprising. Damotclese (talk) 16:13, 29 June 2016 (UTC)
Abusive editor on R2-45 was banned
That Scientology employee or whatever who was vandalizing and annoying R2-45 maintainer editors has been banned. I know you got tired of his/her shit and unwatched for the duration but the editor has been banned, you should watch again. TrainsOnTime (talk) 20:25, 28 June 2016 (UTC)
- Ah, thanks for confirmation, I'll do watchlist it again, BB posted something about that on Facebook yesterday as well but did not have details. I will check the talk: page on R2-45 and also the offending editor's talk: page.
- It's ironic since the offending editor is a Scientology owner/operator/customer who attempted to remove the information about the criminal enterprise, harassed people to try to get them to be impolite and unprofessional so he/she could "Dev-T" their "buttons" and get them banned -- and the offending editor itself got banned. Classic. I assume that the page is semi-protected now as well. I'll go check. Damotclese (talk) 16:15, 29 June 2016 (UTC)
