You state "changing back to non-specific dab is even less helpful". ] gives the reader the ability to note and look up various possible foot deformities. ] states he had a foot. Do you *really* think asserting he had feet is more explanatory than confusing?

The point of Misplaced Pages is not excellence of editing, but excellence of the resulting text. When the result of an edit is worse than what was there previously, don't do that edit.

And if you are stuck on the "non-specific dab" thing, then you know how to fix that - make a more specific dab. You may wish to refer to and , noting that original unfortunate change of redirect from ] to the indirect ]. ] (]) 17:13, 23 April 2018 (UTC)

Phi Alpha

Wasn't aware that linking to a dab page was inappropriate if the appropriate entry in the dab page wasn't one with an article. I do think both of the other Phi Alpha groups are suitable for articles.Naraht (talk) 16:29, 1 January 2018 (UTC)

No worries Naraht. It happens. We're all amateurs here, and there's lots of stuff I find out on a weekly basis. Take care, and have a very Happy New Year. Onel5969 16:36, 1 January 2018 (UTC)
Linking to a dab page this is only appropriate if you don't know which one, right?Naraht (talk) 16:39, 1 January 2018 (UTC)
Actually, you should rarely purposefully link to a dab page. Either link to the correct page, or don't link. Off the top of my head the only two real reasons to link to a dab page is in a "hatnote" at the top of an article, directing the reader to multiple other usages of the same term, or similarly, in the "see also" sections of articles, for the same reason. Hope this helps. WP:DDD is a very helpful nutshell on dabs. Onel5969 16:45, 1 January 2018 (UTC)

Brian Brushwood DOES Live in Austin

Hello Onel5969: You recently deleted my addition of Brian Brushwood from the article List of People from Austin, Texas. I understand that you did so in good faith, thinking that he does not live in Austin, but only attended UT Austin. Perhaps you were unaware that he has moved back to Austin, where he lives today. I clumsily added a reference to the article on Brushwood as evidence to support this claim. The article, "UT alumnus shares secrets behind magic tricks on YouTube channel" at http://www.dailytexanonline.com/2015/10/19/ut-alumnus-shares-secrets-behind-magic-tricks-on-youtube-channel contains this phrase: "Until 2014, Brushwood toured colleges across the country with his magic show and has since settled down in Austin". I hope this is satisfactory proof for you and you will add him back to the List. DaKine (talk) 01:48, 8 January 2018 (UTC)

Hi DaKine - not clumsily... I simply missed it. Sorry. Feel free to revert my revert. Onel5969 02:01, 8 January 2018 (UTC)

Undo of various peoples contributions

Hi,

You've removed a number of contributions people have made, including factual things from an influence section for a popular book series, I'd like to understand what you feel is required in order for these updates and alterations to be re-placed.

I'm referring to your removing factual quotations from books regarding Harry Dresden in the Benedict Jaka - Alex Verus series, and the Orlando Sanchez "Montague and Strong" series.

These sections help readers who appreciate this particular author find other authors who have been influenced by him, and as such may have a similar story style.

LightstarUK (talk) 15:02, 12 January 2018 (UTC)

As per Misplaced Pages guidelines, unsourced material may be removed at any time. And in one instance, the material was pure conjecture, which should always be removed. Feel free to re-add the non-conjectural material, providing there is a citation from a reliable, secondary source showing the veracity of the assertion. Onel5969 16:18, 12 January 2018 (UTC)

Dab links

Just a courtesy message to let you know you had the wrong end of the stick on Network Development Plan Metropolitan Rail – the link should have resolved to Camberwell railway station, Melbourne. Anyway, I've fixed it; thanks for your work on dab links, you're a brave soul. Triptothecottage (talk) 06:04, 13 January 2018 (UTC)

Great Leader

Hiya! Did something go wrong here? (((The Quixotic Potato))) (talk) 23:22, 13 January 2018 (UTC)

Hi The Quixotic Potato - I don't think so... the propaganda page is talking about housing the "Great Leader's" remains, and I pointed to the concept of the Great Leader in North Korea. Do you feel there is a more appropriate link? I could have pointed to Kim Jong-Il, but that is already overlinked, so I thought pointing to the general concept would give the reader more information. Feel free to delink if you think it's inappropriate. Onel5969 23:30, 13 January 2018 (UTC)
I know very little about disambiguation, but I thought that since the sentence is: "Although North Korea suffered severe economic hardships in the 1990s, Kim Jong Il had his late father’s Kumsusan Palace extensively renovated to house the Great Leader’s remains, hiring Russian specialists to embalm the corpse for permanent display" it would make more sense to link to Kim Il-sung (the person who the words "Great Leader" are referring to). Maybe I am wrong. What do you think? (((The Quixotic Potato))) (talk) 23:37, 13 January 2018 (UTC)
Hi again The Quixotic Potato - it would... if it wasn't already linked several times in that paragraph alone. In that instance, the usual circumstance would be to simply delink the dablink (see MOS:DUPLINK). I thought it wouldn't hurt to point to the concept of the great leader in NK, to give readers more information, but as I said above, feel free to delink. Onel5969 23:55, 13 January 2018 (UTC)
Ah ok, makes sense. I think you made the right decision. Like I said before, I know very very little about disambiguation (never even tried it). Thank you! (((The Quixotic Potato))) (talk) 23:58, 13 January 2018 (UTC)
No worries, The Quixotic Potato - I definitely don't think I'm infallible, so always feel free to hit me up with a question about any of my edits. I never really got into de-dabbing until about 4 months ago, other then when I received a message that I had created a dab on a page I created. But feel free to help out on dabs, there are tons out there, and more made every day. I have to fix dabs to New York every day. Onel5969 00:13, 14 January 2018 (UTC)

Coronado Island Film Festival

You flagged the CIFF page I created for General Notability which asks me to cite reliable, independent secondary sources. There are already eight articles from seven sources referenced in the page. This page was flagged last week and it was reapproved by User:Elahrairah after I posted those sources the other day. Are you sure that's what the problem is? Warm Regards, Kire1975 (talk) 07:55, 16 January 2018 (UTC)

I didn't "approve" anything, I just declined the speedy nomination. That said, there are several reliable sources cited in the article and I'm not sure notability is in question. ElAhrairah berate 10:14, 16 January 2018 (UTC)
My apologies, User:Elahrairah. I should have used a different word than improve. I never said I was fluent with very much lingo on these pages, but about notability, I'm pretty sure I'm on solid ground. I've never been flagged so much before in my life. This is confusing and frustrating. Warm regards. Kire1975 (talk) 10:56, 16 January 2018 (UTC)
Hi Kire1975 - For organizations and corporations, which a festival would fall under, there is also the concept of depth of coverage, see WP:ORGDEPTH. All but two of the sources are either linked to the festival, or are local coverage. While the Maltin piece is a nice article, the other from The Wrap is little more than regurgitated press releases. A hint on how to recognize that is that whenever a "news" article includes lines like, "Visit the Coronado Island Film Festival website for Festival Pass purchases," you know it's pretty much regurgitated from a press release. There's a Hollywood Reporter article out there which is very much along the same vein. It might be notable, but I went through the first 150 or so hits on Google News, and couldn't find a single in-depth story about the festival not from a local source. That's not conclusive... for example the Maltin piece didn't come up in the first 150 or so hits, so there very well might be other reliable sources. I tagged it for notability since I couldn't find any more of those reliable sources, but I think it might meet gng, so I didn't propose it on AfD. Hope this helps. Reverting to old version...

I finally found someones response to my post (since it was deleted by the time I could look for it and then finally tracked it down)

Someone responded:

Wiki Page Update keeps reverting back to old version Several times I've updated the Prescott Valley, AZ Government Wiki Page, so it is completely updated (mostly whole thing has been changed). It looks updated, then next time I look, it's reverted back to an old version (but does show the updated pics). I've done this two or three times now, re-editing all the sections, and it just won't keep the updates. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hldahms (talk • contribs) 18:34, 11 January 2018 (UTC)

@Hldahms: you might want to go to en:WP:AN instead. Artix Kreiger 2 (talk) 19:08, 11 January 2018 (UTC) Not a Commons issue, not an Admin issue, but I hope no one will mind if I answer the question where it was asked. @Hldahms: See https://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=Prescott_Valley,_Arizona&action=history for the history of edits on that article. en:User:Onel5969 reverted you, with a rather clear explanation: "Rev commentary, non-notable folks." If you feel that's wrong, either take it up on the article's talk page or the user's. - Jmabel ! talk 19:43, 11 January 2018 (UTC)

The wiki pages I found, led me to the admin report page, so seemed to be a admin issue, even if server admin issue; since it keeps getting reverted. Also, I do not understand the comment of "Rev commentary, non-notable folks." since it is an update to a very old version. Plus I never got to see what your "rather clear explanation" post was. Could you post it on my talk page, so that I can read it? (unless it was the two pic copyright issue, but I don't think so, because I've already written that individual). All we want to do is update the Wiki page.

Thank you for your help. Hldahms (talk) 19:37, 18 January 2018 (UTC)

Hi Hldahms - There are several issues. First, I reverted your edits several times for two reasons. First, a lot of it is POV commentary, with sentences like, "a growing, thriving town..." and "a large number of excellent sports fields." Other issues are you continue to add non-notable folks. Rule of thumb is that if someone doesn't have their own Misplaced Pages page, they are not notable (WP has a very low threshold for notability). Third, those non-notable additions had assertions which were completely uncited. Fourth, and this has nothing to do with me, but it looks like you attempted to upload two pics which were copyright violations and have since been deleted. Hope this helps. Violence and attacks

Hello. One note about your recent categorization edits. I think, not each "violence" is "attack". But each "attack" is "violence". So, Category:Attacks should be the subcategory of Category:Violence, but not vice versa. The same problem is related to the subcategories by countries. What do you think? 178.92.144.218 (talk) 17:37, 21 January 2018 (UTC)

The Original Barnstar
Plz Help Me On Draft:Adhyaan Joy Chakraborty 14:21, 23 January 2018 (UTC)
Thanks Zx24 - what would help is if you translated the references into English. Even though they are in a foreign language, the actual citation should be in English. This gives us a chance to evaluate the source. Initially, when Robert McClenon declined your draft, he was absolutely right (in my opinion), because the draft was very poorly sourced. Not speaking Bengali, I have no idea if these new sources (other than The Times of India) are reliable, independent sources. I can tell you that imdb isn't reliable, and the other two which I can read, Sholoanabangaliana.in and gdn8.com, most likely don't go to notability. Sholoanabangaliana.in, in particular does not publish its editorial policy, so it might not be a reliable source. On the surface, not sure if it is a blog or what. The Times article also doesn't help his notability, as it does not cover him in-depth. To show notability, you need several in-depth articles about him, from independent reliable sources. Hope this helps. Onel5969 14:33, 23 January 2018 (UTC)

Maryvale

If the cited material is inaccurate, then I believe removing it is the best thing to do. Maryvale is not an unincorporated place. It is an Urban Village of Phoenix. The City of Phoenix's website clearly states so. Kiteinthewind 00:14, 25 January 2018 (UTC)

Also, Glendale alone, according to this City of Phoenix data page, is bigger in population than Maryvale. Therefore, the assertion that Maryvale's population is bigger than Glendale and Avondale, combined, is untrue. Kiteinthewind 00:26, 25 January 2018 (UTC)

Hi Kiteinthewind - You would be correct if you were correct. But according to GNIS (see here]), it is a populated place. Also, the addition of the "overview" section is not as per mos, so please refrain from doing so. And not sure what you're talking about regarding population, since Glendale and Avondale are not urban villages. Feel free to add other cited material back in, but don't include it in erroneous deletions. Take it easy. Onel5969 02:44, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
The GNIS page that was cited above dates back to February 8, 1980. I believe when we have current materials from the City of Phoenix that attests to Maryvale being an Urban village of Phoenix (as seen here), we should yield to more curent materials. As for the overview section, since it contains a legally defined urban village area for Maryvale, I think we should let it stay, but retitle it. I am not here to start a fight, rather, let's find up-to-date sources. Kiteinthewind 03:01, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
I've incorporated the fact that Maryvale is both a populated area and an urban village, with cites. Also, the overview section was incorporated into the intro text. Kiteinthewind 03:22, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
It doesn't matter when the GNIS page is from. Period. Census figures should always be from the census bureau. Period. It doesn't really matter what you think about the overview section, there are guidelines and that isn't one of them. Some of the additions you've made are good, and after the last round I went back and made the effort to include them. The fact that it is one of 15 urban villages is incorporated and attested. Onel5969 04:30, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
The cite you removed with your last edit was a wayback machine archived version of the same page that was cited (which is now dead). I think deliberately citing a dead link does nothing to improve a page. You said figures should always come from the US Census, but figures from that document do come from the US Census ( read: Source: City of Phoenix Planning & Development Research Team, Maricopa Assoc. of Governments (MAG) & U.S. Census Bureau et al. "Census Summary File 1 from Block Group Scale Geography." Washington, D.C. April 1, 2010. Date Created: February 16, 2012). I am going to replace the cite with what I added in there. While I am going to AGF, I must say, with all due respect, that the last revert you made was counterproductive, and contradicts what you stated as the reason for the reversion. Kiteinthewind 04:43, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
You are in violation of WP:3RR, might I suggest you self-revert? Your first mention of the dead link is a valid point, but you find the fitting census source to update it, not put in something not in line with consensus as the source to use for census figures. Your editing of the lead shows a clear lack of understanding of WP:LEAD. Take care. Onel5969 11:48, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
Then I suggest we actually collaborate to improve the article, which also involves you looking for sources, instead of this current “revert only” approach that you have adopted. I must point out that in your previous efforts to revert the changes I have made, you have erased other contributions that led to a degrading of quality of the article. While I have no intention to OWN, I see no point in erasing other non-controversial edits over the point you illustrated. At this point, I must point out that based on my opinion, the multiple reversions done by you is approaching the point of point-illustrating, which may, in this case, be a TE violation. I have already stated that the source I replaced contains US census figures, and also comes from the polity that rules Maryvale. That means the source is reliable (as in it comes from an authoritative source ie the city, and has basis in the census), and should be included. I urge you to please start contributing to this article. Kiteinthewind 16:09, 25 January 2018 (UTC)

Paul Coleman (sailor)

Hi, OneL! I granted a short protection of the article - more for the edit warring than the material itself, because it seems that some of their material is constructive and sourced. But I have a bad feeling about that whole scenario, because of that proposed addition on the talk page. You turned it down as unsourced. But there may be a bigger problem. The inclusion of a (like a footnote) is sometimes a giveaway that the material was copied from somewhere. I couldn’t find anything in a quick search, but it bears investigating for copyvio. There is also the possibility that the IP is really the same COI person. --MelanieN (talk) 02:41, 31 January 2018 (UTC)

Hi MelanieN - The ip is almost certainly the same person. When the article was created back in June 2017, the ip and the editor "Paul Coleman", were making the same types of edits (along with the associated article, Peter Coleman (sailor)). And they tended to edit war back then, with several different editors. But I don't see where their additions were sourced at all. If you look at this version, prior to their edits, and compare it to this version, after their edits, there is no additional sourcing. I agree with you regarding copyvio. But I can't find much on the subject. Thanks for the note.Onel5969 03:56, 31 January 2018 (UTC)

Moving The Bloodline to Dirge Within

Hi there, I tried to move "The Bloodline (band)" to "Dirge Within", but got a message saying:

"You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reason:

The page could not be moved: a page of that name already exists, or the name you have chosen is not valid.

Please choose another name, or use Requested moves to ask an administrator to help you with the move.

Do not manually move the article by copying and pasting it; the page history must be moved along with the article text."

Not too sure how to use the Requested moves page. Can you please help me out with this? TheSickBehemoth (talk) 15:13, 31 January 2018 (UTC)

Hi TheSickBehemoth - You can have it done one of two ways. Either ask an admin directly, if you have a relationship with one (I'm not, so I can't do it for you), or list your request at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves. A third way is to tag it for speedy deletion (the redirect), using the WP:G6 criteria for a non-controversial move. Once the redirect is deleted, you can move the article, which will then automatically create the correct redirect. (by the way, this last route is the one I usually take) Hope this helps. Onel5969 15:32, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
Thank you very much for the info. I am pretty new to this type of stuff, as I've only really ever edited articles and don't have a good grasp with tagging certain articles. It looks like there's a certain way to add as discussion to the Requested moves page, but I am not sure how to do it, as I cannot just edit the page and list my inquiry. Also, I am not sure how to tag an article for speedy deletion. Can you please help with this? I am open with either option. TheSickBehemoth (talk) 16:38, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
TheSickBehemoth - No worries... watchlist the redirect. I'll tag it for deletion. Once deleted, simply move the page. Let me know if you need anything else. Onel5969 17:27, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
I appreciate it greatly, thank you. I looked at your edits on how to do this and will try that in the future if another similar situation arises. TheSickBehemoth (talk) 18:23, 31 January 2018 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Janamejaya I

Hi,

I don't think this article should be deleted. As I mentioned in the talk page of the article, there are two Janamejayas and this is about the one who preceded the other. To help people understand better, I have even created a disambiguation page. I am not sure what the process is to de-nominate this article now for not getting deleted. I can provide links to the proof of the existence of two kings. The original article "Janamejaya" had confusing write-up as it tends to treat both the kings as one and is not correct.

Hnaluru (talk) 13:12, 1 February 2018 (UTC)

Hnaluru - Sorry, I disagree, the newly created article basically has the same facts as the original article. Not two distinct individuals. Same father, same stuff with the snakes. Onel5969 13:15, 1 February 2018 (UTC)

No, There are no snakes involved with the first Janamejaya. He performed an Ashvamedha Sacrifice, whereas the second had performed the snake sacrifice. snake sacrifice is because Parikshit II died from a snake bite and his son is infuriated. The former one is not said to have performed this.

Regarding the names, yes - the tradition in India is the name of the first born will have the name of the grandfather normally if the grandfather died by the time the grandson is born. Check other dynasties that have repetitive father-son names.

Also, you can refer to the below book for more information which talks about the differences between the two. https://books.google.co.in/books?id=z3ksBrWoZm0C&printsec=frontcover&dq=vedic+civilization&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj-no_O54TZAhXGT7wKHcCuAlsQ6AEIKDAA Hnaluru (talk) 13:24, 1 February 2018 (UTC)

You're right about the snakes, I misspoke... but the new article refers to him as the starter of the Ashvamedha tradition, where the Ashvamedha article doesn't mention him at all. In its current state, the newer article does not show the difference, with citations, between the two. My suggestion is to have it moved to draft, and work on it until it is much more fleshed out, with stuff like dates, etc. Onel5969 13:31, 1 February 2018 (UTC)

Hi Insertcleverphrasehere - Thanks. I try to keep my hand in... but somebody (or multiple somebodies) is doing a helluva job... the count is down over 11k since mid-December. Wow. Will try to keep hitting it when time allows. Onel5969 12:58, 6 February 2018 (UTC)

Hi Onel5969 I humble request to you. can you check the data in article Jaiswal Brahmin. There is maximum data without reference. Can you please remove unsourced data. Atrisomkshraj (talk) 10:24, 6 February 2018 (UTC)

FYI

Hello O. I hope you are well. I saw Dawson City: Frozen Time last night. It is a fascinating film. The balance between straight documentary and art film is like nothing I've seen. While I don't expect anyone to like it as much as I do it is worth seeing for anyone with an interest in film history - and several other histories for that matter :-) Best regards. MarnetteD|Talk 20:16, 7 February 2018 (UTC)

Hi MarnetteD, thanks for the heads-up. I am not a huge documentary fan, but will check this one out. It's a small world. One of the ventures I've been involved in over the years were mining operations in Canada. My partner in that venture (and we're still partners in several mining things), was actually in Dawson during that period doing placer mining from 1976-1979 (before moving onto South America in 1980). When we were re-opening a platinum mine near the Bering Straight in 2007, we found a stash of old films from the 1940s-1960s, and he related to me the story about the discovery of those films back in the 60s. We only found about 60 or so, and most were newsreels, but there were a few films. Unfortunately, the container they had been stored in had cracked over the years, letting in water, and only the labels were still vaguely legible. The films themselves were lost. Onel5969 20:42, 7 February 2018 (UTC)
Yowza that is an extraordinary coincidence O. Thanks for sharing that. There is so much more to this film than my (or anyone else's that I've read) words can express. I hope you find it interesting. MarnetteD|Talk 20:50, 7 February 2018 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer Newsletter

Hello Onel5969, thank you for your efforts in reviewing new pages!
The NPP backlog at the end of the drive with the number of unreviewed articles by creation date. Red is older than 90 days, orange is between 90 and 30 days old, and green is younger than 30 days.

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 3819 unreviewed articles, with a further 6660 unreviewed redirects.
  • We are very close to eliminating the backlog completely; please help by reviewing a few extra articles each day!

New Year Backlog Drive results:

  • We made massive progress during the recent four weeks of the NPP Backlog Drive, during which the backlog reduced by nearly six thousand articles and the length of the backlog by almost 3 months!

General project update:

  • ACTRIAL will end it's initial phase on the 14th of March. Our goal is to reduce the backlog significantly below the 90 day index point by the 14th of March. Please consider helping with this goal by reviewing a few additional pages a day.
  • Reviewing redirects is an important and necessary part of New Page Patrol. Please read the guideline on appropriate redirects for advice on reviewing redirects. Inappropriate redirects can be re-targeted or nominated for deletion at RfD.

jaiswal

how can u revert the changes... I had given true reference... that book which I give as a reference is published by Indian government anthropological department which they conducted as survey.. now Misplaced Pages had become more reliable than government survey.. jaiswal kalwar r not in reservation till 2003 and we r in general still in some states like West bangal Assam etc and kalchuri r not included in 36 rajput clan and no rajput have any knowledge about kalchuri... there r still family which have rajput link like Aditya vikram jaiswal grandson of rai bahadur jaiswal..go wiki page of prithviraj raso it itself says surprisingly kalchuri abhira r also added to 36 rajputs clan. by the way there r judgements of British Era which confirm our kshtriya status but I cannot disclose as that will dent our reservation status... kalchuri had been different from rajputs as they had some jain history and some anti brahmin history too... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Highsky6252 (talkcontribs) 13:59, 12 February 2018 (UTC)

In a word, no. Simply linking to a google books link is not a valid reference. In addition, your edit was part of a larger addition of unsourced material. Onel5969 14:08, 12 February 2018 (UTC)

thanks

Thank you for all the work you've done.

Steinwerder

Hi, I see you deleted my article on Steinwerder. In my innocence I had assumed that, as a quarter of Hamburg-Mitte it would automatically be a notable place. Indeed it is the only quarter of Hamburg-Mittel without an article of its own on the English Misplaced Pages and of course it does have an article on the German Misplaced Pages. Its history is dominated by the Blohm+Voss shipbuilders, so this was necessarily reflected in my article. What kinds of additional sources would be needed - as a minimum - to allow say tagging it with a {{refimprove}} rather than summarily deleting it? — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 18:57, 21 February 2018 (UTC)

You might also like to respond constructively at Talk:Hamburg-Mitte#Steinwerder, where others can see your opinions for themselves. That might include why well over 2,000,000 Google hits on "Steinwerder" do not at least suggest notability. I look forward to a reply as prompt as your deletion was. — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 19:33, 21 February 2018 (UTC)

BTW, you can find my current draft at User:Steelpillow/test2. — Cheers, Steelpillow (Talk) 19:44, 21 February 2018 (UTC)

Hi Steelpillow - First, I did not delete the article. Merely redirected it. Presence on other wikis is irrelevant, has most have much lower standards than English Misplaced Pages regarding notability. Google hits is even less relevant. What you need are in-depth citations from independent, reliable sources to show notability. Regarding other info on the page (like the shipbuilder), can be from non-independent sources, as long as it's not promotional. For example, you could cite the history page on the shipbuilder's website if you wanted to include some history of the shipbuilder as it relates to the quarter. The article, Ahwatukee, Phoenix, is a pretty good example of city neighborhood article. Hope this helps. Onel5969 19:49, 21 February 2018 (UTC)

14:50:22, 22 February 2018 review of submission by Complexityfelicity

Dear reviewer,

Thank you for the feedback on the article that I have been trying to submit. I have now tried everything I could to fix the issues that have been pointed out but still not sure if it's ready for another submission. Is there anything else you could think of that needs to be improved? Many, many thanks!

Input

How's it going?

As someone who's contributed to discography pages, I was wondering if you'd care to put some input in this discussion. --Blastmaster11 (talk) 21:01, 24 February 2018 (UTC)

a suspicion

It is a random suspicion, but I think the anonymous editor (2405:204:210B:9DB1:C5F7:DF4D:9023:607B) who added Gandhi and Amit Shah to List of Jains might actually be Amit Shah. What is more amusing is the book that he cites to prove Amit Shah is Jain seems to be a three page pamphlet/self-published $1 ebook about...the life of Amit Shah. Wouldn't surprise me if it was ghost written by Amit Shah. Amatyaugrasen might be the same guy. Thanks for beating me to the revert on the Gandhi edit. Happy St. David's Day

The leek is one of the national emblems of Wales, worn along with the daffodil (in Welsh, the daffodil is known as "Peter's leek", Cenhinen Bedr) on St. David's Day. According to one legend, King Cadwaladr of Gwynedd ordered his soldiers to identify themselves by wearing the vegetable on their helmets in an ancient battle against the Saxons that took place in a leek field. Cheers!‑ ‑ Gareth Griffith‑Jones  ‑ ‑ 15:55, 28 February 2018 (UTC)

Brilliant! Thanks for the brief history legend on my heritage Gareth Griffith-Jones. Hope you are doing well. Oh, btw, the name of the foundation I started is "Duw Yn Wych". Cheers! Onel5969 18:47, 28 February 2018 (UTC)

While your critique of the biographical page was appreciated, there are 13 citations that speak to the tone of the article, which was not intended to be promotional, in and of itself. It is always appreciated to be extended an opportunity to improve the page or ask for assistance, rather than delete it entirely along with the draft. Please cite examples of where you deem the article promotional and allow it to be improved upon. Thanks for your kind considerationMonologuebaby (talk) 21:13, 4 March 2018 (UTC)

Hi. First, it's polite to leave a link to the page you're discussing. Second, almost every single line in the article was promotional, rather than simply informational. The article has already been deleted, so I can't provide exact verbiage/examples, but this is the 8th time a page about this person has been deleted. In fact there was an AfD a while ago. Onel5969 21:19, 4 March 2018 (UTC)
Keep your nonsense off my page. Either be civil, or be gone. I didn't delete the article. I marked it for deletion and another editor felt exactly the same way and deleted it. Totally promotional articles don't warrant an advert cleanup. That's when an article has certain aspects which are promotional, but can be salvaged. The article which was written had virtually nothing which could be saved, and is about an individual of dubious notability. Please don't contact me again, any future messages you leave will be summarily deleted. Onel5969 22:28, 4 March 2018 (UTC)

Disambiguation of Lev Leviev

Hi Onel5969,

I just saw this edit, which disambiguated Lev Leviev to someone who is AFAIK unrelated to Africa–Israel, instead of Africa–Israel's chairman. Was this intentional?

Ynhockey 07:29, 6 March 2018 (UTC)

Hi Ynhockey - No, it wasn't intentional, as he's already linked earlier in the article. Meant to unlink the overlink, not sure how I mis-clicked. Thanks for catching it. Onel5969 18:05, 6 March 2018 (UTC)

Huh?

What was your reasoning for this? I assume you looked at the page history; so please explain in at least as much detail as I did. Thanks. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 13:01, 7 March 2018 (UTC)

Hi R'n'B - sure thing. First, it was an uncited stub, which I almost always feel are better served as a redirect, or in this case a dab. Second, it was part of a series of pages about Philippine highways, which had all recently been created, and which were also dabs, so I felt it best to make it conform. Third, other than a definition intro, the only content of the page where two entries which both referred to the constituent portions of the roadway. It could definitely be turned into an article, as Certes did with N62 highway (Philippines), and it probably should, but I felt in its current condition a dab was more warranted. Hope that explains it. And nice work on the dabs, btw. Onel5969 22:27, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for the ping. A pile of Philippine road dabs has just appeared and I'm looking at those with incoming links. As I mentioned to the author, I think they should be (possibly trivial) articles rather than dabs. N64 was top of my to-do list but it's bedtime here so it'll need to wait until tomorrow unless someone else has the time and inclination to fix it. Certes (talk) 23:36, 7 March 2018 (UTC)
I've created a couple of barely notable stubs at N64 highway (Philippines) and N231 highway (Philippines), and updated {{Philippine highway network}} to link to them directly. The author of the dabs hasn't edited since, so it may have been a one-off burst of enthusiasm which is now tidied up. Certes (talk) 11:17, 8 March 2018 (UTC)
Hi Certes - Nicely done nicely! Onel5969 12:32, 8 March 2018 (UTC)

Whenever you create an article about an American movie, you should be sure to use the category "American films." All American films are to have that category, regardless of whether or not a more specific one exists. Thank you for your time. Scorpions13256 (talk) 22:20, 7 March 2018 (UTC)

I noticed your edit where you changed a link to PC to PC (disambiguation), which actually redirects back to the PC article, so it was kind of pointless. It looks like you used something called Dispenser to make the edit. Well I just wanted to let you know about the error so you could report it if it was a bug in the tool or something. Help : review article

Hi Let me introduce myself. I am Felix and I’m a novice in Misplaced Pages ! I wrote an article recently, it’s a biography of a french-american journalist : Laura Haim. Now, I’m waiting for validation from wikipedian reviewer. Would you be able to help me? I have no idea how long it could take… https://en.wikipedia.org/Draft:Laura_Haim Many thanks for your help. Need to discuss

Hello, If some article would be removed completely, some discussion should be done in the article's talk page before removing, I think. Cafeduke (talk) 16:02, 16 March 2018 (UTC)

  • Hi Cafeduke - Not if it's completely uncited. As per WP guidelines, any uncited material can be removed immediately. Rather than delete the article, a redirect is appropriate, until someone takes the time to reference the article. Right now it is totally WP:OR, which is a no-no. Onel5969 17:14, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
Hello, Onel5969. Then, if I would add some citations, what it will be??? Anyway, another article I wrote has a link to the article, and I'm improving the removed article just now. Cafeduke (talk) 17:31, 16 March 2018 (UTC)

Review article Laura Haïm

Hello

First of all, I would like to thank you for your reactivity and your feedback about my article : https://en.wikipedia.org/Draft:Laura_Haim I have made the changes you suggested. I hope it will be fine. I also would like to explain the choice of the word « tragic ». It refers to the terrorist attack in Paris in November 13th 2015 who made 129 dead. I thought, the term was appropriate. Tell me.

Hey there! Just to let you know, there's currently a review request on the Draft page for Better Call Saul (season 2). Is it okay if you review it. The Optimistic One (talk) 17:04, 25 March 2018 (UTC)

Hi The Optimistic One - There was a copyvio issue. Left a message on the draft. Fix that and you're good to go. Nice job. Onel5969 20:02, 25 March 2018 (UTC)

Draft re-review

Hey there! Just to let you know, the copyvio from the article has been removed thanks to myself and Primefac. There's currently another review request on the Draft page for Better Call Saul (season 2). The Optimistic One (talk) 06:05, 28 March 2018 (UTC)

I left a comment on Draft:Better Call Saul (season 2) regarding the "copyvio", but I'll leave a comment here as well. There was definitely no copyvio, I can't see the diffs anymore or what exactly was removed, but if you're implying content was copied from that alchetron.com website, then it definitely was not. Everything on that website is copied from Misplaced Pages. Most of the content on the BCS S2 article originated from the main BCS series article. All you have to do is search an article on that website and see it's a mirror of the Misplaced Pages article; though it may be an older version, because obviously it always won't be updated to match here. Just look at Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, or Lost; they're all copied from Misplaced Pages, plus just look at the bottom of the page it lists the Misplaced Pages article as its "Reference". Drovethrughosts (talk) 13:41, 28 March 2018 (UTC)
Can you review the draft again please Onel5969. The Optimistic One (talk) 04:30, 29 March 2018 (UTC)
I'm waiting for the current redirect to be deleted so I can move it to mainspace. Onel5969 10:31, 29 March 2018 (UTC)

Sorry about that Bellezzasolo - I try get the era correct when dealing with dabbing Palestine. Not sure how I missed that one. Onel5969 19:43, 29 March 2018 (UTC)
No problem, it's an easy mistake to make. Just notifying you because it's your disambig on a couple of edits, it might get brought up. Bellezzasolo Discuss 19:46, 29 March 2018 (UTC)

Zoee

When you nominated Zoee for deletion, you added onto the old AfD in 2006 instead of creating a new nomination. To do this, tag the article with {{subst:afdx|2nd}} and follow the usual steps. The new AfD is here. LaundryPizza03 (talk) 19:43, 29 March 2018 (UTC)

Thanks LaundryPizza03 - I did that using the curate tool, and did not know how to fix it. I left a message on an admin's page for them to take a look. Thanks for fixing it for me. Onel5969 19:53, 29 March 2018 (UTC)

You appear to be changing links from Kingdom of Greece to Kingdom of Greece (Glücksburg) - as this redirects back to Kingdom of Greece it provides no benefit to the reader. MilborneOne (talk) 14:51, 2 April 2018 (UTC)

  • Hi MilborneOne -Already left a comment on the talk page. The page had already been split, which had been reviewed by another editor. Hence, I began to fix the over 1000 dabs created by the split. Another editor has since reverted the split. If you had checked out the history of the page you might have seen that. Onel5969 14:57, 2 April 2018 (UTC)

Just sort of want to know reason we can not delete the distinguish tag to other town at top of page...

on the Prescott Valley web page, https://en.wikipedia.org/Prescott_Valley,_Arizona there is a Not to be confused with Prescott, AZ. near the top of the page. yet on Prescott's, there is not one that directs to not be confused with Prescott Valley, AZ.

although I took it off, you unedited it to remain in place, so...

I'm figuring it's because, even though Prescott Valley has a higher population, Prescott has been around A LOT longer and might be more well-known, since it was a capitol of the state a Long time ago before the capitol moved to Phoenix. So basically inquiring, just to know the answer for future changes. -thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hldahms (talkcontribs) 20:43, 5 April 2018 (UTC)

Hi Hldahms - First, please remember to sign your comments on talk pages (either article or other users') with the 4 tildes (~~~~). Second, you hit the nail on the head. Even though PV has a larger population, Prescott is much older and more well known. Furthermore, it's been a long standing note on the page. Anytime something like that has lasted for a long time, it's a good idea to start a discussion on the article's talk page to see if anyone objects to it being removed. Personally, I'm neutral about it, and have simply reverted for procedural reasons. Be aware, on a page with as little activity as PV, the discussion might take a couple of months. Resilience in art

Hello, In response to your comment on Resilience in art I would like to clarify that it is not original research. Resilience is a concept in full development that applies to different fields and in art too. Resilience in art is discussed in the various international congresses : Resilience in the World of the Alive 2016 in Marseille, France, Arts developement UK, and will be featured in the 4th World Congress on Resilience in June 2018 in Marseille, France. Best regards.AlexArago (talk) 09:11, 8 April 2018 (UTC)

Hi AlexArago - Original research, on WP, is not what you are indicating above. OR means that information in an article is uncited or synthesized (which could also be referred to as WP:SYNTH), and needs to be sourced properly. Large sections of that article are unsourced, hence seemingly OR. Onel5969 12:25, 10 April 2018 (UTC)

Hi Onel5969

Thanks.AlexArago (talk) 13:13, 10 April 2018 (UTC)

Double (disambiguation)

Beware that DisamAssist can sometimes create incorrect links like this one. (I've removed that one altogether per MOS:NOTSEEALSO.) New Page Reviewer's Platinum Star

The New Page Reviewer's Platinum Award

For 10,000 reviews in a single year. While your current count is a little below that, it was above 10,000 for most of last year, and this award has just recently created and you definitely deserve it. Cheers and thank you very much, — Insertcleverphrasehere 21:40, 10 April 2018 (UTC)
Thanks Insertcleverphrasehere - wouldn't even know where to go to look up my count, simply try to help out when something gets backlogged. Paiute

Hello. Regarding this edit, the Paiute page is formatted as an article, not as a disambiguation page; as you well know, disambig pages should not contain references. Further, if it is converted into a disambiguation page, we would lose the information about the historical (albeit inaccurate) usage of the name. --R'n'B (call me Russ) 13:34, 11 April 2018 (UTC)

Hi R'n'B - Agree 100% with the references, they should be removed. However, I've been going through the pages, and this clearly needs to be a dab, as there definitely seems to be a preponderance of difference between Northern and Southern. We can move the historical usage of the name into both articles, and cite the dab page in the edit so that the provenance is kept. Thoughts? Onel5969 13:40, 11 April 2018 (UTC)

Re: Daryle Lamont Jenkins

What is needed as an indication of notability? I had thought that the links I provided is what was needed. DCKaba (talk) 06:43, 15 April 2018 (UTC)

Notability is not inherited. Simply because the organization he founded has limited notability, does not mean that the founder is notable. There must be several references from independent, reliable sources which go in-depth about Jenkins to show that he is notable. These can't be trivial mentions, nor discussions about the organization, but be about him specifically. The Wired source is an excellent example. The rest are either trivial mentions of him, or from dubious sources. If you can find another 2 like the Wired article from reliable sources, that would indicate notability. Hope this helps. Onel5969 11:41, 15 April 2018 (UTC)
Thank you for that. In addition to the Wired article, I can add articles specifically about him from the Los Angeles Times, Daily Beast, Slate Magazine and Vox. I thought I had before. Sorry. DCKaba (talk) 21:11, 16 April 2018 (UTC)

re:The Battle for Marjah

I think Battle of Marjah/The Battle in Marjah/The Marjah Battle shuold Redirect to Operation Moshtarak, but "The Battle for Marjah" not have same meaning in english, like"fight for" and "fight in".

maybe you are right because english is not my mother tongue, but you shuold move this article to The Battle for Marjah (flim),then edit the Redirect page. not to ignore @Wdr1: et al's contributions.--Htmlzycq (talk) 15:48, 15 April 2018 (UTC)

The guy who creates this article is not me,I just pass by.--Htmlzycq (talk) 16:12, 15 April 2018 (UTC)

thank you, and my spell "flim" is wrong--Htmlzycq (talk) 10:31, 16 April 2018 (UTC)

re: Trust Me Baby / In Dreams redirect

Is there already not evidence of notability? The article is for an up and coming recording artist that's signed to subdivision of XL Recordings. The single in question premiered on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 radio show which is internationally broadcast and was co-produced by a prominent Los Angeles producer Cole M. Greif-Neill. I've provided info to add insights into the songs creation and credits. I believe that's pretty noteworthy and not justifiable for a redirect. I don't appreciate my work being disregarded trying to a artist's page. shalom

Shalom... please read the guidelines for WP:NSONG. This does not qualify. Onel5969 02:37, 16 April 2018 (UTC)

Tim Bagshaw

Hi, I believe he passes WP:NMUSIC but need at least 3 days to find and add references. Redirecting without discussion is edit warring so take it to AFD instead at least there people will actually search for sources instead of quickly redirecting without trying to improve it, thanks Atlantic306 (talk) 13:40, 18 April 2018 (UTC)

Please understand what you are talking about. Redirecting is not edit warring... your actions on the other hand might be construed as such. Don't mark it reviewed until it sourced properly. I have no intention of taking it to AfD, since it most likely doesn't belong there. But if sourcing can't be provided, it should be a redirect. Onel5969 13:43, 18 April 2018 (UTC)
The first redirect was a bold move which I contested so instead of BRD you reverted it, that means you are edit warring, not me Atlantic306 (talk) 13:47, 18 April 2018 (UTC)
What are you talking about? I redirected the page once. You really should understand stuff you make false accusations about. Onel5969 13:50, 18 April 2018 (UTC)
I meant the initial redirect by Reddogsix was a bold edit which I contested. Anyway, a quick search didn't find any indepth sources and have a big backlog at the moment so have restored the redirect until I find at least 2, prefereably 3 or 4 good indepth sources, thanks Atlantic306 (talk) 14:13, 18 April 2018 (UTC)

On club soda

Hi, I see you undid my creation of the article on club soda. I have turned it back into an article because the subject, while covered in the article on Carbonated water, is independently notable. Would you like to discuss this? A person searching on the term "club soda" and being taken to the existing article on "carbonated water" is told nothing about the chemical makeup of club soda nor its uses (because the article on carbonated water treats all such waters as the same, which they are not, see the references I included in the club soda article) nor how it is different from mere water with added carbonation (see here). Or at least this is how I see it. A loose noose (talk) 01:59, 19 April 2018 (UTC)

Actually, someone looking at the carbonated water article is given the generic makeup of club soda. Feel free to expand there. There is no need for a separate article. In fact, sometimes, as in this instance, a separate article actually does a disservice to folks researching the topic, as it limits the scope. Take care. Onel5969 03:17, 19 April 2018 (UTC)

Maharashtra Forest Department

I added some references to Maharashtra Forest Department. Eastmain (talkcontribs) 03:22, 20 April 2018 (UTC)

Mota Group,Inc.

We will add further references. To that end, please cite the specific areas of the article that appear to be promotional, so I can provide the link to the wording in the reference where it came from. User:mtjoe —Preceding undated comment added 16:01, 20 April 2018 (UTC)

Discussion at Iron Man#Proposed merge with Tony Stark (Marvel Cinematic Universe)

You are invited to join the discussion at Iron Man#Proposed merge with Tony Stark (Marvel Cinematic Universe). I see you marked Tony Stark (Marvel Cinematic Universe) as reviewed, if you have any comments then please feel free to bring them up on the merger discussion. Emir of Misplaced Pages (talk) 20:58, 21 April 2018 (UTC)Template:Z48 (please Reply to icon mention me on reply; thanks!)

Already did Emir of Misplaced Pages - Thanks for the heads up. I marked it as reviewed, since if the consensus is not to merge, the article can stand alone, and if it is merged, the redirect will suffice. Onel5969 21:00, 21 April 2018 (UTC)

The Unvanquished (film, 1945)

I got your point, and I probably know the reason. On IMDB the film is listed under a different title, The Taras Family, which seems to be the editor's mistake (after all, IMDB is like Misplaced Pages), who confused it with the original book's title. The film is also listed on the page of the Venice film festival (1946). Italian poster on the film's page says 'Gli Indomiti', which means The Unvanquished. I really doubt if the film was ever demonstrated in English. Dmitri Lytov (talk) 03:04, 22 April 2018 (UTC)

Hi Dmitri Lytov - If you have independent reliable sources for the assertions made in the article, would definitely be notable. Please note that imdb is not considered a reliable source. Especially the assertation about it being the first film to depict the Holocaust. That alone is worth it having its own article, but where did you find that fact? Onel5969 22:10, 22 April 2018 (UTC)
Hi Onel5969, we probably need first to define what exactly should be confirmed by independent sources. If you can list your requests, I can see what I can provide. In the meantime, however, I would strongly disagree with the deletion of the page, as for me it looks like contesting the very existence of the film (which does not make sense, you can find and watch it) rather then statements in the article. I cannot understand your reasons of applying such a strong measure instead of inserting templates requesting corroboration of statements.
With regard to the list of feature and documentary films about the Holocaust, Misplaced Pages maintains a respective list in various languages, and so far the Soviet one (1945) is the earliest one on it; if anyone finds an earlier film, then the list will be updated respectively.
My reason is simple. Please read WP:GNG and WP:NFILM. Neither of which this article currently abides by. Don't get me wrong, I think the film might very well be notable, but it must be shown by reliable sourcing. The page was not deleted, simply redirected to the Director's article, which is the common practice when the film itself does not meet notability criteria. On WP, any uncited assertion may be deleted at any time. So, for example, you make the assertion about the holocaust, that needs a citation. If you made an assertion about the release date, that needs a citation... etc. Hope this helps. Onel5969 02:26, 23 April 2018 (UTC)

Otello Corporation

Hi, can you tell me why my edit was undone here? The companies are different are separate entities and I had updated both artices to remove confusion and fix WP:COAT and Otello definitely fits WP:CORP given its history and acquisitions. I had also referenced everything clearly. Making it a redirect breaks the article Opera Software as well. Gotitbro (talk) 03:04, 22 April 2018 (UTC)

Re:Proposed deletion of Poetic books

Hi Onel5969. I've always thought we would need some pages on the divisions of the Old Testament because structurally they vary somewhat from the Tanakh while being quite well marked categories within Christianity. I’d wondered a bit what precisely was meant by "historical books", "poetical books" and "prophetical books" and it's not been very clear from Misplaced Pages as up to now you’ve had to piece it together from articles on the Hebrew Scriptures. Actually the "poetical books" are strictly the Psalms and the Song of Songs, while the "sapiential books" are Job, Proverbs and Ecclesiastes, or either term can refer instead to all five, but I think it's worthwhile all this should be noted down as it's quite pertinent for study/criticism, though it's true it’s hardly yet a very finished page. You can Google the terms and there'll be a fair few pages. I might change the tag to unreferenced stub, but do you have any other questions? Gherkinmad (talk) 21:23, 22 April 2018 (UTC)

Well, without a single valid reference, it's a definite possibility for deletion. And in its current form, it would be deleted as per WP:DICDEF. If it gets fleshed out, with reliable, independent sourcing by all means have a go at it. Onel5969 22:07, 22 April 2018 (UTC)
