Freemont was presented at the Geneva Motor Show on January 24, 2011, and is on sale starting 29 May. The production of the vehicle takes place at the Chrysler plant in Toluca de Lerdo, Mexico. In the global strategy of Fiat SpA, Freemont also has the task of covering the Dodge Journey market in Europe, after the withdrawal of the Dodge brand from the European market at the end of December 2010.
