Wikiprojects
Hey Ortizesp. When you create a new article, try to remember to add associated projects to the article's talk page. These can usually be found by looking at closely related articles, but in the case of footballers, would probably include ones similar to Talk:Anthony Rogie, namely football, biography, and whatever country they happen to be from. Thanks for helping us build an encyclopedia. If I can be of any help, feel free to drop me a line a my talk page. TimothyJosephWood 21:58, 2 August 2017 (UTC)
Ismael Álvarez Lohoba
Isma also played for Equatorial Guinea against Benin. I think the articles you created (Federico Obama, Saúl Coco and Jordan Gutiérrez) are not ready to be a part of Misplaced Pages. That's because the match they played was removed from the FIFA records (reason: referee from Equatorial Guinea instead of a third country) and then it is like if it never would happen.--MonFrontieres (talk) 18:21, 9 September 2017 (UTC)

Hello, I'm Zackmann08. Thank you for your recent contributions to Saifeddine Alami. I noticed that when you added the image to the infobox, you added it as a thumbnail. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this:
|image=]
Instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do:
|image=SomeImage.jpg
.
There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption
. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The specific parameters for the image and caption may be different for the infobox you are using! Please consult the Template page for the infobox being used to see better documentation. Thanks! List of association football families
Thanks a lot for all your contributions to the list! I also really appreciate the edit summaries with your additions.
Apart from thanking you, I also wanted to make sure that you're aware that the second (or further) player doesn't have to be a youth international minimum - it can also be a player playing professionally for a club (meaning=in a fully-pro league) who hasn't been capped internationally at any level.
Furthermore, if you'd like to help improve the list beyond additions, it could use some maintenance of going through the listings and removing any families where neither of the people is an international or an important person in the game. Also all listing need to be referenced, so if you see any unreferenced listings, they should be removed or have a reference added. I was going through it in alphabetical order by country for a while.. think I got up to Liberia.
Once more thank you! :) --SuperJew (talk) 21:57, 9 November 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks for heads up! I'll make sure to sift through the list here and there, and try and clean it up. I appreciate all the positive feedback! You're doing a great job maintaining the page.--Ortizesp (talk) 22:46, 9 November 2017 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of association football families, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mario Frick (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Please do not add unreferenced or poorly referenced information, especially if controversial, to articles or any other page on Misplaced Pages about living (or recently deceased) persons, as you did to Isaac Vassell. The url you gave in reference to Mr Vassell's descent is dead, and has been so for several years. An archive copy exists, which shows that not only is the cited article about Darius Vassell, not Isaac, it doesn't even mention Darius being of Jamaican descent. Please make more of an effort to take sourcing of BLPs seriously. Struway2 (talk) 12:37, 1 March 2018 (UTC)

Assessment for non-article pages
Hello Ortizesp, thank you for tagging categories and other pages with project banners - any help with such maintenance tasks is greatly appreciated. As far as I know, most projects don't use an importance assessment for non-article pages though. You can simply omit the importance parameter for most categories, DABs, redirects and similar navigational pages. If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask me. Best regards. Berke Özer
Hello. I trust this finds you well. I'm sad to see that you proposed article of Berke Özer for deletion, advocating he didn't/doesn't play in a full professional league. This is not true. TFF 1. League is a fully professional league and it's status is defined and acknowledged by TFF clearly. Please see: , . Profile of Özer at official TFF page displays clearly that he turned professional 18 August 2016. Please see: (page in English).
I kindly request you to revert this mistake and remove that tag. Thank you.
- Hello, I am only nominating the page for discussion because the TFF First League is not on the list of professional leagues as per WP:FPL. I don't have any issues if we can prove that it's fully professional, and add them to the list. --Ortizesp (talk) 02:13, 13 July 2018 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Scottish people of Cape Verdean descent
A tag has been placed on Category:Scottish people of Cape Verdean descent requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines. Urko Pardo
Hello there,
thank you for your hard work in this (and other players) article. However, two things: 1 - you were pretty much correct in every category you added, but I feel we should not remove the SPANISH FOOTBALLERS one as he qualifies for that per descent (like Thomas Christiansen, for example; OK, Mr. Christiansen has the plus of having represented the Spanish national team while Mr. Pardo did not, that is why Christiansen gets the SPANISH INTERNATIONAL FOOTBALLERS as "extra"); 2 - the current order of categories is less scramble in my view, with first the personal stuff, then the leagues/clubs in order, international stuff and expatriate stuff last - then, the managerial cats if the subject has any.
Happy editing/week, from Portugal --Quite A Character (talk) 09:55, 15 October 2018 (UTC)
- Similar one (and you have wrongly done this in many other players): Diogo Costa, not a Swiss footballer as he NEVER played football in that country, his youth career (and now the senior, of course) was entirely spent in Portugal. Please don't do it again.
Not hoping for any sort of reply, but i come to you to help out and my conscience is clear. Attentively --Quite A Character (talk) 21:57, 19 January 2019 (UTC)
- Hey, Diogo was born in Switzerland and lived there till 7. He's Swiss born and partly-raised, and is eligible for the Swiss NT. That's why I add the category, he's a "Swiss" but mostly Portuguese footballer. Urko on the other hand wasn't born in Spain, so I don't know if we can assume he has a Spanish passport unless he goes out of his way to get one. We can put Belgian (born and raised), and Cypriot (confirmed through sources, and national player). Let me know what you think.--Ortizesp (talk) 23:24, 19 January 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply, then. Yes, i totally understand what you mean, but we'll only add the "Swiss footballers" category to Mr. Costa's article if/when he makes debut for country. Until then, he has ZERO to do with that nation in terms of football, all of his career in the sport is associated to Portugal.
Have a nice week, again thank you for replying --Quite A Character (talk) 23:01, 20 January 2019 (UTC)
- Reverted another! David Simão, first club ever (proven, no mention - sourced or not - to previous ones) was Grupo Instrução Musical Desportivo Abóboda at the age of EIGHT already in Portugal. He did not play football in France, he's NOT a French footballer.
Difficult to grasp I see, but we'll get there... Attentively --Quite A Character (talk) 11:48, 31 January 2019 (UTC)

Álvaro Morata
Hello there,
you got it completely wrong while changing his youth years, your reference reads, at one point, "Este martes, durante su presentación, el Atlético proyectó un vídeo con varias imágenes del paso de Morata por el club, desde su carné de abonado en la temporada 1997-1998 a su etapa en la cantera, pasando por una foto junto a Fernando Torres.", which means "This Tuesday, during his presentation, Atlético showed a video with footage of Morata's spell at the club, from his membership card in the 1997-98 season to his youth system stint, interspersed with a photo with Fernando Torres."
I have thus reinstated the correct version, but kept your source nonetheless. Attentively --Quite A Character (talk) 17:21, 2 February 2019 (UTC)

Use of squad number 33 in French Professional squads
Hi - just wanted to leave you a note regarding creation of squad list entries for players in French professional teams (Ligue 1, Ligue 2 and the four professional teams in Championnat National) such as you did at Julien Boyer at AS Béziers (2007). The squad number 33 has a special meaning in French professional football. It is not permanently assigned to one player, instead being used for last minute replacements of an otherwise unregistered player from the youth/reserve team. Some, but not all, clubs extend this to squad numbers 34 and 35 also. Many players over the season, from one week to the next, could wear the 33 shirt, and you will not find them included in the sourced squad list. Therefore, it is not appropriate to include a player with a squad number 33 in the squad list on an article.
The rules for this can be found in French Professional Football League (LFP) Competitions Regulations, part 1, title 4, chapter 2, article 576: "All teams must have an unattributed jersey numbered 33 reserved for last minute replacements." Thanks, Gricehead (talk) 09:01, 25 February 2019 (UTC)

You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, and move subpages when moving the parent page(s).
Please take a moment to review Misplaced Pages:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect
is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.

If you do not want the page mover right anymore, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Thank you, and happy editing! Primefac (talk) 17:07, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Primefac: Which venue should i seek to remove the page mover rights of Ortizesp ? See also, Misplaced Pages talk:WikiProject Football#Jorginho and all the thread in this user talk page, since the user keep on making bold move that often contested by other wiki editors, it is not appropriate for the user to hold such rights. If he want to self-revert, he can always post such request in Misplaced Pages:Requested moves/Technical requests. Matthew hk (talk) 14:52, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
- I'm still learning the ropes, and feel better equipped to move pages. A lot of the Portuguese pages completely neglect WP:COMMONNAME, and in doing mass movements there are bound to be a couple here and there that slip through the cracks. I think the moves I'm making almost always are justified, and don't require WP:RM, and one of the recommendations on moving pages are to be bold. I will make sure to be more careful with larger pages, and if you have any advice I am more than willing to listen. Let me know if you have questions. Cheers!--Ortizesp (talk) 15:54, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) Done. I was on the fence when granting this right because of the issues higher up the page (and even an assurance that RM would be used for controversial moves). In looking at the move log, there are a lot of (what appear to be) valid moves. However, I can see the concerns and frustrations, and when multiple editors are requesting that an editor use the RM process then it should be used. Mistakes will happen, but it does seem clear that the permission is not appropriate at this point in time. Revoking specifically under the "sufficient care when moving pages" clause of WP:PMRR. Ortizesp, if you wish to contest this removal you should bring it up at WP:AN.
- As an addendum, please note that the removal of this right will not prohibit the ability to move pages, just to "suppress redirect". Caution should still be taken and the RM process should still be used for potentially controversial moves. Primefac (talk) 16:05, 26 March 2019 (UTC) PS. As an additional addendum, Matthew hk, the proper venue is WP:ANI, but pinging the granting admin is the best first thing to do. Primefac (talk) 16:09, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
Professional debut
Hi, I note you have created a lot of articles, mainly for young players, containing the text "X made his professional debut against Y on DATE". I note also that in a number of these articles there is no source that these players have signed professional contracts. They are making their debut at the professional level, but not as a professional, until they sign a contract. I would request that you revisit the articles you have created and either reword as "X made his debut at the professional level against Y" or provide a source for a professional contract being signed prior to the debut. Thanks, Gricehead (talk) 16:46, 4 March 2019 (UTC)
Mano (footballers)
Hello. Please reconsider your moves of Mano (Portuguese footballer) and Mano (Mozambican footballer) to birthyear disambiguators, citing "convention" in your edit summary. The relevant convention Misplaced Pages:Naming conventions (sportspeople)#Association football (soccer) actually recommends using the most conclusive of nationality or birthyear. The birthyears are 3 years apart, i.e. effectively indistinguishable for the reader wanting to find one of these players. But one is a Mozambican with 30+ caps for his country who never played in Portugal, the other is a Portuguese under-age international who rarely played outside it. I'd suggest that nationality is rather more conclusive than birthyear in this particular case. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 19:05, 6 March 2019 (UTC)
- You're right, I undid the moves. Sorry!--Ortizesp (talk) 20:25, 6 March 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you. Struway2 (talk) 00:09, 7 March 2019 (UTC)
David Amaral
Hi, I've reverted your move. If there are only two persons with this name, a disambiguation page is not needed and a simple notice at the top of each article referring to the other one is sufficient. Also, if a disambiguation page is necessary (when there are 3 or more people with a certain name), you need to put a note at the top of each page referring to that disambiguation page. See WP:ONEOTHER. Thanks and happy editing! --Randykitty (talk) 09:07, 28 April 2019 (UTC)
Alan Marcel
Hello! I noticed you moved the Alan Marcel article from Alan Marcel Picazzo, I disagree with the move. The WP:COMMONNAME is Alan Marcel Picazzo, per all five of the article's non-statistical sources. A quick Google search supports this too. R96Skinner (talk) 01:11, 9 May 2019 (UTC)
- Done, you're right.--Ortizesp (talk) 02:46, 9 May 2019 (UTC)--Ortizesp (talk) 02:46, 9 May 2019 (UTC)

I've reverted this move - you clearly don't get it. I'll be raising your conduct at WP:ANI. GiantSnowman 07:27, 10 May 2019 (UTC)

Page moves and WP:MCSTJR
Please read the last item of WP:MCSTJR: Some people are known primarily by their first name only. When it is not possible to set the first name alone as the article title, as with many articles in Category:Brazilian footballers, you should sort with the first name first to make the article easier to find in the categories. For example, Leonardo Araújo is commonly known as Leonardo, and should be sorted as {{DEFAULTSORT:Leonardo Araujo}}.
You are changing articles without any backup history or any research just because you think so.
Besides, your page moves are often controversial and an ANI already brought this up. Why don't you stop being way too much WP:BOLD and instead use a WP:RM to see if other people agree with your moves? MYS77 14:57, 17 May 2019 (UTC)
- Will do, thanks!--Ortizesp (talk) 15:03, 17 May 2019 (UTC)
- @Ortizesp: "Will do" and you are still moving page without any single compromise... @GiantSnowman, can you take a look at this, since you were the last one who warned him a few days back? MYS77 21:21, 17 May 2019 (UTC)
- @MYS77: I raised the issue here - Misplaced Pages:Administrators' noticeboard/IncidentArchive1010#Page move topic ban for Ortizesp but it was archived with no action. Perhaps you could start a new ANI discussion linking to the old one? GiantSnowman 13:50, 18 May 2019 (UTC)

You are still doing this - Rubén García Rey. @MYS77: I am going to re-raise at ANI. GiantSnowman 07:28, 4 June 2019 (UTC)

Fidel Chaves de la Torre
Another move who is controversial enough to be reverted. Why, for God's sake, don't you learn how to use WP:RM instead of doing controversial moves? A lot, man, a lot of users already raised questions about your moves and you're still going for it? It seems to me that you want to receive a topic ban, or worse, it seems like you want to be blocked!
By the way, related to the article on the headline: he's not known as Fidel Chaves, he was never known by this during his entire career. Check his move to Elche yesterday: Las Palmas' official web announced his departure as "Fidel leaves Las Palmas", and Elche's official web announced his signing as "Fidel joins Elche". Fidel. Not Fidel Chaves.
Cheers, MYS77 15:00, 15 June 2019 (UTC)
- No offense, but can't you see the hypocrisy in your post? If his common name is Fidel then why did you make the page Fidel Chaves de la Torre. A lot of the page moves I make are with your pages because you don't follow WP:COMMONNAME. And I understand that I get some of these wrong, but for every wrong there's 20 that are right. I think it's awesome you make so many pages, but I think it's confusing to list the formal written names of players everytime you make a new page. And I promise I will use WP:RM, but for 95% of the pages I move it's not required, eg Diego García (footballer, born 1997).--Ortizesp (talk) 23:04, 16 June 2019 (UTC)
- One move does not justify the other one. I'm not the one having an ANI about my behaviour and my lack of understanding over the guidelines. Get your facts straight, stop doing controversial moves, stop making promises you can't keep, and learn to use WP:RM in the vast majority of your edits. Then people will stop messaging you about your mistakes. Cheers, MYS77 01:59, 17 June 2019 (UTC)
Topic Ban (page move ban)
Ortizesp, this is to let you know that according to consensus at ANI you are Topic Banned from moving pages until 23 August 2019 (two months). A breach of this ban will incur an immediate block, without warning, of a duration at administrator's discretion. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 05:59, 23 June 2019 (UTC)
- Your topic ban covers all undiscussed moves; therefore, using WP:RM/TR is not permitted. — JJMC89 (T·C) 01:13, 24 June 2019 (UTC)
- Noted, I wasn't aware..--Ortizesp (talk) 02:07, 24 June 2019 (UTC)
- @JJMC89, Kudpung, Anthony Appleyard, and DannyS712: please note edits like this and this which both came after the topic ban, in which Ortizesp attempts to rename the articles without moving the pages... GiantSnowman 07:48, 24 June 2019 (UTC)
- GiantSnowman, while this would likely fail the spirit of the topic ban, it's specifically for moving pages. If "renaming" like this becomes/stays an issue, I'm sure a quick amendment could be made. For the record, though, this sort of dubious behaviour is a great way to get an WP:IDHT block. Primefac (talk) 13:47, 24 June 2019 (UTC) (talk page stalker)
- Oh yes, I'm aware this is not in violation of the topic ban - but just shows the attitude of the editor. If they keep it up I'll be re-raising at ANI. GiantSnowman 13:52, 24 June 2019 (UTC)

Help with a squad template
Hi there. :-) Could you give me a hand with Template:FC Chambly squad? I see you're quite prolific when it comes to creating new squad templates (and player pages). I'm having issues with figuring out which colours to use. Also, should https://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=Category:FC_Chambly_templates be created? Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 08:18, 30 July 2019 (UTC)
- Hey, looks good! I created , as you suggested. I'm having trouble with the colors as well, but as it stands should be fine - you did a fine job. Thanks for reaching out!--Ortizesp (talk) 14:26, 30 July 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot. Happy editing, Robby.is.on (talk) 14:28, 30 July 2019 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Swiss people of Libyan descent
A tag has been placed on Category:Swiss people of Libyan descent requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages.
Move requests
I removed the following requests from Misplaced Pages:Requested moves/Technical requests because they are moves that you can do yourself:
Technical requests is only for moves you cannot complete yourself for technical reasons. If you wish to have discussion or vetting of the moves, you can do a move request instead. I would also recommend posting at WP:WikiProject Football. --Ahecht (TALK
PAGE) 14:24, 26 August 2019 (UTC)
- Ortizesp, you are subject to a page move topic ban. With this edit I suggest you have breached the topic ban (certainly the spirit if not the letter) as you sought to move a number of pages without community discussion. What do you have to save for yourself? Notifying @Anthony Appleyard: who decided that the request for Helton Samo Cunha was a good one and moved it (now reverted), and also notifying @Ahecht:. GiantSnowman 14:24, 27 August 2019 (UTC)
- Oh, I see the topic ban expired. I'll seek it to be made indefinite. GiantSnowman 14:32, 27 August 2019 (UTC)
- I am using WP:ANI *correction WP:RM*as you recommended, and am still being chastised for it. I think the these are all perfectly valid move requests, and am completely open to having community discussion over these. Is there something I am doing wrong, as I am completely confused how you would like me to go about this.--Ortizesp (talk) 15:22, 27 August 2019 (UTC)
- No, you are not using ANI for page moves (at least I hope now). If you don't know how to follow Misplaced Pages:Requested moves#Requesting a single page move after all this time then we need a CIR block. GiantSnowman 15:30, 27 August 2019 (UTC)
- I meant WP:RM, sorry. I've been using WP:RM as you recommended, it wasn't made clear to me that I specifically had to go to Misplaced Pages:Requested moves#Requesting a single page move for each and every page move. Previous requests I've made were moved by users patrolling the page.--Ortizesp (talk) 17:15, 27 August 2019 (UTC)
