Attention:

This IP address, 194.35.219.101, is registered to University of the Highlands and Islands and is shared by multiple users. Comments left on this page may be received by other users of this IP and appear to be irrelevant. Caution should be used when blocking this IP or reverting its contributions without checking. In the event of vandalism from this address, efforts will be made to contact University of the Highlands and Islands to report abuse.

If you are an unregistered user operating from this address, note that this need not necessarily be the IP address of your machine. In many cases, it turns out to be the IP address of a proxy server that communicates between your browser and the Wikimedia servers. Such proxies are shared among a huge number of users compared to the number of persons using your particular machine. If you are frustrated by irrelevant comments appearing here, you can avoid them by creating an account for yourself. However, you will still be unable to edit Misplaced Pages while the IP you are using is blocked.

Thanks for experimenting with Misplaced Pages. Your test worked, and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Steinsky (talkcontribs)

Greetings! Noticed your additions to tin whistle; looks good! No need to apologize for putting it in yourself; in fact, that's encouraged. Particularly since you seem to have the hang of using the talk pages. :-) Welcome to Misplaced Pages; I hope you'll hang around a bit. In case you haven't found them yet, here are the help pages; you can also ask questions at the Misplaced Pages:Village pump. For a more complete list, the community portal has links to just about anything you'll need to find as a Misplaced Pages editor.

Have you considered getting a login name? It might help you out: you can set an email address in your preferences so people can email you via the link on the sidebar (if you go to my user page or that of any logged-in user, you'll see the link) without having your email address publicly displayed; it helps you keep track of what you've done and lets people talk to you on a talk page (like this one) associated with a name rather than an IP address. You'd also get a watchlist to keep track of articles that interest you, like I have tin whistle on mine. (See Misplaced Pages:Why create an account?) Incidentally, you can sign a talk page with four tildes ("~~~~") to leave your username and a timestamp on the Talk page automatically; if you don't have a login, it signs with your IP address and the timestamp. Three tildes signs without the timestamp.

Are you a whistle player, then? I have a few Clarke whistles myself, though I play them with somewhat more enthusiasm than skill... Happy editing! Mindspillage (spill your mind?) 17:39, 27 Jan 2005 (UTC)

You have recently vandalized a Misplaced Pages article, and you are now being asked to stop this type of behavior. You're welcome to continue editing Misplaced Pages, so long as these edits are constructive. Please see Misplaced Pages's Blocking policy and what constitutes vandalism; such actions are not tolerated on Misplaced Pages, and are not taken lightly.

We hope that you will become a legitimate editor. Again, you are welcome here at Misplaced Pages, but remember not to vandalize or you will soon be blocked from editing.

If you feel you have received this message in error, it may be because you are using a shared IP address. Nevertheless, repeated vandalism from this address may cause you to be included in any future sanctions such as temporary blocks or bans. To avoid confusion in the future, we invite you to create a user account of your own. Stardust8212 15:56, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

Strontian

On several occasions, you have edited Strontian, changing nose to knoll. However, Sròn clearly translates as nose! To make things clear, I have changed it as follows, clarifying the meaning of knoll:

The village name in ], ''] an t-Sìtheinn'', translates as the ''nose of the fairies'', meaning a knoll or low round hill inhabited by the mythological '']''.

I hope this is clear enough to be acceptable for everyone, offering both literal translation and interpretation. LHOON 15:07, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
