Background
On 7 September 2020, Steps announced the release date of their sixth studio album, called What the Future Holds, via their social media accounts. It was revealed by a series of cryptic posts, with references to the past and the future, as well as imagery of a crystal ball. It was followed with a posted on their official Twitter account saying "We couldn't keep it a secret any longer!!", with band member Claire Richards adding "Its been a long time coming but we are so proud to present the next chapter to the Steps story." The title track was announced as the lead single on the same day while a supporting arena tour of the United Kingdom was announced on 8 September to take place in November 2021.
