The Ohio State Buckeyes won the tournament, thus receiving the Big Ten's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Seeds
All Big Ten schools played in the tournament. Teams were seeded by conference record, with a tiebreaker system used to seed teams with identical conference records.

Tiebreakers
- Iowa, Purdue, Illinois for seeds #4, #5, #6, respectively: based on winning percentages against each other. Iowa was 2-1, Purdue 1-1, and Illinois 1-2.
- Michigan State over Michigan for #7 seed: Michigan State and Michigan each won one of the two games played head-to-head, and each lost two games against regular season champion Ohio State. Michigan State wins tiebreaker by virtue of a better record against #2 seed Wisconsin (Michigan State vs Wisconsin, 1-1; Michigan vs Wisconsin, 0-1).
- Northwestern over Penn State for the #10 seed: both teams had identical records in head-to-head games (1-1); vs. #1 seed, Ohio State (0-2); and #2 seed, Wisconsin (0-2). Northwestern wins tiebreaker by virtue of a better record against #3 seed Indiana (Northwestern vs Indiana, 0-1; Penn State vs Indiana, 0-2).
