Barabasti is a group of 12 villages lying in Bulandshahr district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

Overview

It is situated around 100 km from Delhi, the national capital of India. Barabasti supplies a large number of mangoes to the country. It has been declared fruit belt by the government of Uttar Pradesh. Barabasti in Urdu means "group of twelve villages". It consists of twelve villages now under the districts of Bulandshahr, Ghaziabad and Amroha. These villages are:

  • 5.Bugrasi
  • 6.Chandyana
  • 7.DaulatPur
  • 8.Ghesu Pur
  • 9.Hasan Pur

  • 12.Sher pur

History

Barabasti was established during the regime of Sher Shah Suri in India (1472 - 1545). Isa Khan was the founder of Barabasti. The famous river Ganga passes in Barahbasti. During the partition of India and Pakistan in 1947 many Pathans of Barabasti migrated to Pakistan.
