Biographies of living persons deserve a special sensitivity.
Misplaced Pages is not a newspaper
Misplaced Pages is an encyclopedia, not a newspaper, and Wikipedians are encyclopedists, not journalists. It is therefore inappropriate to adopt a publish-and-be-damned philosophy when writing about living people. We don't have a team of fact-checkers, reporters, copy editors, and lawyers to call upon, as newspapers do, and we're not writing in the public interest, where there may be a responsibility to expose wrong-doing.
The job of encyclopedists is simply to document, in a non-partisan manner, what credible third-party sources have said about the subject, and what the subject may have said about him or herself.
