  • Maramureș, a geographical, historical, and ethno-cultural region in present-day Romania and Ukraine, that occupies the Maramureș Depression and Maramureș Mountains, a mountain range in North East Carpathians. Alternative names: Land of Maramureș, Țara Maramureșului, Maramureș (historical region), Maramureș (geographical region), Máramaros, Marmatia, Marmația.
  • Maramureș County, the southern part of Maramureș, is a county in Romania. In 1918-1938, it covered only ca. half of what it covers today, hence when one wants to distinguish that in historical contexts, one also refers to Maramureș County (1918-1938).
  • Maramureș Region, a former administrative unit of Communist Romania in 1960-1968, which covered a much larger area than Maramureș County.
  • Northern Maramuresh, the northern part of Maramureş, is a geographic, historical, and ethno-cultural region in Ukraine
