Hello, I'm C.Fred. I noticed that you recently removed content from Bennett S. LeBow without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Misplaced Pages with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. - Fred, Brooke and Bennett LeBow had no involvement with this man or this project and it was never built when we researched it. . Please remove this because it is not correct information. 66.248.183.138 (talk) 13:39, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
- I do not see how this is possible, when the article cited in the NYT states
- "The photograph was taken in late 1995 at a Democratic fund-raising party in Miami, Mr. Rabinovich said. He said he had not donated money to the Democrats, but had been invited to the event by Bennett S. LeBow, an American businessman whose interests include the Liggett Group, the big cigarette manufacturer. Mr. LeBow's Brooke Group and Mr. Rabinovich are developing a business center and luxury hotel in Kiev, according to a spokesman for Mr Lebow"
- Since it is unclear whether the projects were completed, I am changing "developed" to "participated in the development of"
- The reference to the book "Red Mafia" is available on the Internet Archive.
- A Similar article in this regard may be found in the Wall Street Journal, Nov 12, 1997, "Woes Mount at Lauder's Ukraine Venture --- Suit Against Media Empire Shows Pitfalls of Partnerships"
- "he's (Rabinovitch) developing the country's first five-star hotel as part of an international consortium whose main backers include Bennett LeBow, the chief executive of U.S. tobacco company."
- Also, according to the Washington Post,
- "Rabinovich did not contribute any money, but he attended the Clinton-Gore fund-raiser at the Sheraton Bel Harbor Hotel as a guest of Bennett S. LeBow, chairman of Miami-based Brooke Group Ltd., parent of the Liggett Group, a cigarette manufacturing company. Rabinovich was an adviser on the construction of a hotel LeBow is building in Kiev, according to a spokesman for LeBow. LeBow was unaware of Rabinovich's background at the time of the fund-raiser, the spokesman said." - Mr LeBow said this is unequivocally incorrect. He was not involved in such a development ever and this is incredibly negative to print such an affiliation occurred with a Russian mob boss. Would you like to speak to Mr LeBow's attorney? Can we arrange a call with the Kasowitz law firm as soon as possible so you are assured that he never had such an affiliation with him in any potential business venture. In business, as you know, there are individuals ("promoters") that like to state such affiliations to brag, promote their brand, use others to create credibility.etc at the expense of others. Mr LeBow has an impeccable reputation and magnanimous career so please remove this reference and focus on all the positive things he did such as claim cigarettes cause cancer. Please do your research. It was a landmark case . 66.248.183.138 (talk) 17:53, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
- If LeBow's denials have appeared in a published reliable source, we can look at adding that as a counter-point. Otherwise, the article will go with what has been printed in reliable sources.
- Regarding the mention of a law firm, please review no legal threats before mentioning them again. —C.Fred (talk) 14:11, 2 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Fred, I was only mentioning a lawyer so you would feel comfortable knowing that it is true that Mr. LeBow was never involved in a proposed development of a hotel in Kiev. That was not a threat. He owned the largest cigarette factory in Russia. Can you kindly print his denials as a counterpoint. He deserves tremendous accolades for the landmark case letting the world know that cigarettes cause cancer. 66.248.183.138 (talk) 14:46, 2 April 2024 (UTC)
- I tried to find a reliable source in which Lebow denies having a business relationship with Rabinovich that we could additionally print, as a matter of fairness. Instead, here is what I found:
- "LeBow is a longtime player in both the cigarette and real estate industries in Russia and Ukraine. Among his former business partners is Vadim Z. Rabinovich, a Ukrainian politician who was elected to parliament in 2014 as part of the pro-Russia party that employed Manafort before he signed onto Trump's campaign."

- This is so strange because he never had a business relationship with him after learning his background. it does not even make sense he has been Chairman of a large public company for so many years at Vector. Again, I am happy to put an attorney on a call with you that handled the tobacco case so he can back this up for you. Please dont print an untruth . this is a great honorable man that does not deserve this. Jlebow112 (talk) 14:31, 3 April 2024 (UTC)

- We are going to see if we can find something for you. How about a letter from a law firm. mark Kasowitz handled the tobacoo settlement and has been Mr LeBow's attorney for many years. Will that work? Jlebow112 (talk) 19:10, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
