Ibn al-Qayyim was the closest student to Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah.

He was an extensive writer and was always in a state of rememberance of Allah. A constant action of his done in the prayer was to prolong the bowing and prostration.

Amongst his works are Ilam al-Muwaqqin in Islamic jurisprudence, Kitab ar-Ruh, a book dealing with the soul and the book called Provisions of the Hereafter.
