Alive 2006/2007 was a concert tour by French electronic music duo Daft Punk, their first tour as a group since 1997. While the 2006 concerts were not given a formal billing, the 2007 performances were advertised as "Alive 2007". The 2006 performances and 2007 tour as a whole was later retroactively named "Alive 2006/2007".
The tour was met with praise and critical acclaim. The Times described Daft Punk's set as a "memorable sensory spectacle, both dazzling and deafening".
Background
The tour began with a sole United States performance at the 2006 edition of the Coachella festival in Indio, California followed by several European festival appearances throughout the summer. Two consecutive performances also took place at the Summer Sonic Festival in Japan, held in the cities of Osaka and Tokyo respectively. In the autumn, the duo visited South America and played their second U.S. performance of the trek at the Bang! Music Festival in Miami, Florida, their final date of the year.
The duo resumed touring in June 2007, beginning with an appearance at the RockNess Festival in Scotland, held near the city of Inverness. After further European shows and festival performances, the act returned to North America for a full-fledged eight-date tour. This reached many markets for the first time on the trek, including a headlining slot at the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago, Illinois. A second leg of shows in October followed, with an appearance at the Vegoose festival in Las Vegas, Nevada and three shows in Mexico.
To cap off a successful year, the duo returned to Japan in December followed by a series of special shows in Australia, dubbed Never Ever Land. They featured regular Daft Punk stalwarts SebastiAn and Kavinsky, and were ultimately the fastest selling Daft Punk-related events to date. The tour culminated in Sydney, Australia at the Sydney Showground Main Arena.
A live album entitled Alive 2007, featuring their performance at the Bercy arena in Paris, France, was released in November 2007. The album won the Grammy Award for Best Electronic/Dance Album in 2009.
