Kudos to Google for agreeing to censor words in Red China. You guys will bash Bush all you want, but when it comes to a government that is actually oppressive you cave in for the money. Thanks for "not doing evil".
I'm at a lost with how the history of Iraq is going down.
The US is criticized for giving aid to Saddam, and is criticized for imposing sanctions against Saddam.
The sanctions are criticized, but when we invade Iraq and lift the sanctions it is opposed.
We are criticized for giving economic aid to Saddam, but when he invades Kuwait it is because he "just wanted reconstruction aid" he wasn't getting.
We are criticized for supposedly letting Saddam invade Kuwait then we are criticized for kicking him out.
We are criticized for letting Saddam crush the rebellions, but were pressed by the same people to stop supporting them when they were occuring.
We are criticized for letting the Ba'ath party come to power and are criticized when we establish democracy.
We are criticized for letting Saddam gas Iranians and are criticized for trying to disarm him of WMDs.
Its a lose-lose situation, it looks like.
Did you know that at Misplaced Pages you can be branded a POV-pusher if you believe that:
- Fidel Castro is a dictator who rules without free elections?
- the Khmer Rouge were responsible for mass-killings and starvation? (see Talk:Khmer Rouge and archives)
- Ho Chi Minh was not pro-democratic, pro-human rights, and anti-genocide?
- Eastern European Communist governments were not democratically elected?
- Americans in the Philippines were "repressive" and not "aggressive"?
- Serbia tried to ethnically cleanse Kosovo during the war?
