A political epithet similar to Champagne socialist or Limousine liberal used to describe people who claim to support socialist policy or theory, but have an undeniably capitalist, bourgeoisie lifestyle. Gucci refers to the haute couture created at the Italian fashion house which bears the name. This term is used largely pejoratively, and has wider use in Canada than other epithets describing this particular behaviour. Phil Allt, a New Democratic Party of Canada member is the extended the use of the Gucci prefix in conjunction with another ideology when he accused the Green Party of Canada of including "Gucci Environmentalists."
