Kalhana (कल्हण) (c. 12th century), a Kashmiri Brahmin, was the author of Rajatarangini, an account of the history of Kashmir. He wrote Rajatarangini in Sanskrit between 1148 and 1149.<ref>Stein, Vol. 1, p. 15<ref>

He was born to a Kashmiri minister, Canpaka, who probably served king Harsa of the Lohara dynasty.<ref>Stein, Vol. 1, p. 6<ref>

Rajatarangini is regarded as one of the most valuable sources of the history of India.
