Minor Edits?
I just looked at your edit to the Albert Einstein article and, while it was good, there is no way it meets the criteria outlined in WP:MINOR. Please don't do this.
I suggest you turn off the "Mark all edits as minor" option, if you have it turned on.
Thanks! — UncleBubba 16:59, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
- Excuse me, but as I recall, my edit was ONE WORD and it was a grammatical improvement. Please assume good faith. Djathinkimacowboy 01:20, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
- It was +35 bytes and much more than one word (see http://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=Albert_Einstein&curid=736&diff=462238177&oldid=461521294), but the point is not so much the size of the edit but the content. Your edit to that page was not minor and I asked you nicely to refrain from doing that. I assumed good faith by not making a big deal out of it but I will if you continue to mis-mark your edits.
- Also, as requested, please respond (if you wish) here, not on my Talk page, that keeps the text together. — UncleBubba 05:34, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
- Got it. My apologies since I confuse articles sometimes. I edit hard-and-fast, a bit too fast for my own good. Please do not think I am mis-marking edits. I work very hard to try to make sure that never occurs. Djathinkimacowboy 08:06, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
- You know ... I just looked at that. I see you are making a bit much of this after all. Again my apologies for the initial misunderstanding, but grammatical correction, well, frankly, you can see it all clearly so what difference does it make if it is called "minor"? It is minor. I put in grammatical correction which was badly needed and I added Judaism. Sorry, I just don't like getting lectured. Djathinkimacowboy 08:10, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

Look, this is what I mean: "Checking the minor edit box signifies that the current and previous versions differ only superficially (typographical corrections, etc.), in a way that no editor would be expected to regard as disputable." Hot from the minor edits rules.
While I agree that I ought to simply avoid marking "minor" altogether (I certainly do not have all my edits automatically marked as minor!!), I think the correction of grammar very nearly amounts to what a bot does. Minor...or not? Djathinkimacowboy 08:20, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
- The point of WP:MINOR is that minor edits can be safely ignored when reviewing new changes. You would probably be amazed at the number of people who obviously thought at some time, "Sure, I'll mark everything minor—I won't be making any major changes, after all." My suggestion about the "Mark all edits Minor" option was intended as helpful; I'm sorry if you read it as lecturing.
- In your Einstein edit, I see:
- Change "on" to "about"
- Add "Judaism"
- Add "and" before "humanism"
- Break sentence after "humanism"
- Add "He also wrote much about"
- While all of these are great changes, and needed, the only one that seems superficial is the third.
- My goal is to help improve the encyclopedia, not to piss you off. While I didn't want to make a big production out of this, I do hope you see where I was coming from. — UncleBubba 13:26, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
