William Osser Xavier Cook (October 9, 1896 – April 6, 1986) was a Canadian professional ice hockey right winger who played for the New York Rangers in the National Hockey League and Saskatoon Crescents in the Pacific Coast Hockey Association.

Bill was part of the Bread Line with his brother Bun Cook and Frank Boucher. The line scored every Ranger goal in the Stanley Cup finals in 1928, leading the team to its first Cup. He was captain when Rangers won their 2nd cup in 1933.

He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1952. In 1998, he was ranked number 44 on The Hockey News' list of the 100 Greatest Hockey Players, making him the highest-ranked player to have played a majority of his career with the Rangers.

Legacy

  • Ranked No. 5 on the all-time list of New York Rangers in the book 100 Ranger Greats (John Wiley & Sons, 2009).
