This article talks about the different prospects and usage of social media by gender. According to the article, women are predominantly more active on social networking websites, and that women are more involved in activities of correspondence with loved ones than males. Males were found to lose interest in online communities because they were made to join them due to peer pressure, as opposed to women having their own desire to communicate and keep in touch with people.
Judging from my own experiences with friends, I believe that the article is accurate. Many of my male friends do not frequent their social media accounts unless they are asked or told to check something on it, whereas my female friends are often on and keeping up to date on the website.
