Laloo Prasad Yadav (officially spelt Lalu Prasad Yadav) (born June 11, 1948) is the chief of the Rashtriya Janata Dal political party of India. He is also a former Chief Minister of the Indian state of Bihar, and is the husband of Bihar's current Chief Minister, Rabri Devi. In 2004, he was elected to the Lok Sabha with his party emerging as a key ally of the Congress. He became the Minister for railways in the Manmohan Singh government.

He was born to Late Shri Kundan Rai at Phulwaria, Distt. Gopalganj (Bihar). He married Rabri Devi in 1973 and has two sons and six daughters. He is an arts graduate and has been a political and social worker and lawyer.

Railway budget (July 2004):

• No fares were raised.
• promised a wheel factory in his Lok Sabha seat of Chhapra
• reserved 25% of bookstalls in certain stations for Dalits, tribals and OBCs.
• proposed a set of free railway passes for spouses of licensed coolies to travel from their station of work to any other station in the country.

His railway reforms have rather been controversial and have been reputed in its eccentric ideals.

Laloo Yadav is one of India's most corrupt politicians.He has been convicted of murder several times and had been released from Jail in 2001. Laloo has also has been accused of swindling money from India's most lawless state of Bihar.
