Two Distant Strangers is a 2020 American short science-fiction drama film written by Travon Free and directed by Free and Martin Desmond Roe. It has been nominated for the 2021 Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film.
Synopsis
In New York, after spending the night at the home of a woman her recently hooked up with, cartoonist Carter James' repeated attempts to get home to feed and walk his dog are thwarted by a recurring deadly encounter that forces him to re-live the same awful day over and over again, searching for a way out.
Free wrote the script in five days in July of 2020. It was later directed by Free and Roe in five days in late September in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Release and Oscar nomination
In March 2021, Netflix acquired the distribution rights and made the film available from April 9. It has been nominated for an Academy Award in the "Short Film (Live Action)" category. Other nominees in the category include Feeling Through, The Letter Room, and The Present.
