Nutter Thomas

The subject of this article was known, and is fondly remembered, in South Australia, at least, as Nutter Thomas in exactly the same way as the founder of Boy Scouts was known as Baden Powell, not Robert Powell. He was properly addressed as Dr. Nutter Thomas, and quite commonly referred to as A. Nutter Thomas. A Trove search of Australian newspapers, with which you may not be familiar but is a very reliable indicator of contemporary useage, yields around 5,400 hits for "Nutter Thomas", of which 3,400 are for "A. Nutter Thomas" and 100 for "Arthur Nutter Thomas". "Arthur Thomas, bishop" and "Bishop Arthur Thomas" together amount to 40. If you object to "Nutter Thomas" as sounding disrespectful, I agree with you, and would prefer "A. Nutter Thomas", but the previous title at least accords with WP:COMMONNAME.
Also, changing titles by copying the article to a new heading is clumsy and results in loss of history and lots of loose ends. I intend finding someone with more experience than either of us to tidy up the mess and make A. Nutter Thomas the new title. Doug butler (talk) 22:46, 28 February 2021

St. Pancras Soper Lane

Can you provide gps coordinates for your picture of the site of St. Pancras Soper Lane, now in Queen Street, City of London? I am creating a Findagrave cemetery and the coordinates would help. I don't plan to use the picture, unless you would grant permission, but I do need the gps coordinates. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by EDGRC (talkcontribs) 04:49, 2 March 2021 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Adekoya Adeniyi

Notice

The article Adekoya Adeniyi has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No coverage for Adekoya Adeniyi, only claim of notability is "he is the current Bishop of Ijebu", which does not appear to be true as the current Bishop of Ijebu is Peter Rotimi Oludipe

While all constructive contributions to Misplaced Pages are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Book references

Could you take a look at the way you are formatting your book references please? You recently referenced St Mary Woolnoth as:

  • "The City of London Churches: monuments of another age" Quantrill, E; Quantrill, M p106: London; Quartet; 1975".

I would have done it like this:

  • Quantrill, E. & M. (1975) The City of London Churches: Monuments of another age. London: Quartet. p. 106.

While there may be valid disagreements on this matter, you seem to be a long way from any known accepted referencing system in terms of the order of information and formatting used. Philafrenzy (talk) 08:42, 25 April 2021 (UTC)

Please improve the quality of your sourcing

Hi. I notice you create a lot of articles, but most of them seem to have serious sourcing issues (and other problems). I already moved Thavaraj David Eames to draft space because the only source contradicted the main fact in the article. Furthermore, that source was not independent, and only a passing mention, so not enough to support an article (and probable WP:BLP) in any case. It also has a common formatting mistake you make: the bolding of the article title in the first line should be done '''Thavaraj David Eames''', not ].

  • George Devadass: you have two sources, one which calls him Devadoss, the other Devadass. It looks as if Devadoss is the correct name, not Devadass. You source "serving from 1959 to 1978" to a source from 1968, so this can't source this (and it is a court document, a primary source which should best be avoided). The second source doesn't contain this fact either, and is not an independent source.
  • Jeyapaul David: you claim (infobox and text) that he was installed in 2000, while all sources give 1999 as the date. Theinfobox states he was born in 1953, the article says 1944.
  • J.A.D. Jebachandran is sourced to a Facebook post containing all kinds of allegations, a source which should not be used for a WP:BLP except when dealing in the text with these allegations (if they are acceptable to be included), and again a court document.
  • David Gnaniah Pothirajulu: first source is missing, second source is again some Facebook primary source.
  • Marialouis Joseph starts with "V. S. Francis is the sixth bishop". Uh, I thought we were dealing with an article on someone else?
  • Sundar Clarke "he was the Bishop of Madras from 1999 to 2014." Well, no, he was bishop from 1974 to 1990. The infobox states "Predecessor Sundar Clarke Successor James Edward Lesslie Newbigin", both of which are incorrect. The lone source only confirms that he was a bishop of Madras, nothing more, so is no help with any of this.
  • Masilamani Azariah: "he was the Bishop of Madras from 1999 to 2014." Nope, from 1990 to 1999. Sourcing this to Worldcat and some strangely formatted ref of one of his own books is hardly sufficient to verify any of this though.
  • Vedanayagam Devasahayam at least seems to have the facts right, but is again a WP:BLP solely linked to an article about criminal allegations about him.
  • George Issac: I can't access the first source, and the second one is extremely short; neither confirms e.g. his date or year of death though. The infobox claims "consecration: 2007", which is strange for someone who is a bishop since 1999.

These are your ten most recent articles, but the problems are the same in earlier ones (e.g. yesterday I noticed an article you sourced to geni.com, a clearly unreliable source). Please take a lot more care to find better, appropriate sourcing, including some independent sources, and to check the few facts you post to get them right. Fram (talk) 09:40, 27 May 2021 (UTC)

And then you just go on creating more of the same? Please stop, it is getting disruptive.

  • Thomas Garrett (bishop): "bishop from 1971 to 1974" (still starting the sentence with a lowercase "he"; if you use a template, make sure it is correct instead of repeating the same error page after page). But the infobox claims that he was installed in 2000, and born in 1971. None of this makes any sense. The sources are not reliable (a university thesis) and not independent (the church website).
  • Augustine Jebaraj, exactly the same impossible combination of dates in the infobox vs. the text (also in e.g. Daniel Abraham (bishop)).

The problem isn't occasionally making an error, that's normal; it is systematically, in nearly every article you create (and you create a lot of them), having the same or similar errors, often with the same sourcing problems, and all of this on very short articles to start with. Please change your approach to article creation. Fram (talk) 10:15, 27 May 2021 (UTC)
