The organisation works in conjunction with regional arms that oversee football development in the different parts of the world. The six conferdations that comprise FIFA (and the regions that they govern) are:
- AFC - (Asia)
- CAF - (Africa)
- COMNEBOL - (South America)
- CONCACAF - (North and Central America)
- OFC - (Oceania)
- UEFA - (Europe)
FIFA organizes, amongst others, the following football competitions:
- Football World Cup
- Olympic Football Tournament.
- Football World Youth Championship.
- Women's World Cup.
FIFA is also in charge of the rules and laws that govern the game, the regulation of the transfer of players between teams, and the general promotion of the sport.
