Serzh Azati Sargsyan (Armenian Սերժ Ազատի Սարգսյան, born on June 30, 1954 in Stepanakert, Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, is the Defense Minister of Armenia and Chairman of its National Security Council, and since March 26, 2007, the acting Prime Minister of Armenia.

Serzh Sargsyan is the organizer of many battles in the Nagorno-Karabakh war. He is considered to be one of the founders of Nagorno-Karabakh's and Armenian Military Forces. Currently, he is viewed as the strongest contender for the post of the President of Armenia in the upcoming elections.

He is married and has two children.

Sargsyan has a vast personal fortune, primarily originating from his near monopoly on the import of petroleum to Armenia. The monopoly is not official, but due to his position he is able to maintain it.

Other transcriptions of his given name are Serge and Serj, of the name Sarkissian, Sarkisyan, Sarkissyan, the transliteration is Serž Azati Sargsyan.
