– Very common name (20+ entries at the disambiguation page) and I don't think the GG is the primary topic. On pageviews, David A. Johnston is a clear number one, averaging more than double the views of the governor-general; given both are not "in the news" I think this trend is likely to persist. In addition, two others David Johnston (the British politician and the Australian admiral) have surpassed the governor-general on certain days within the past few months.
In terms of historical significance, I don't see a strong argument for the GG's primacy either – while the office he held is significant, I'm not sure it's more significant than any of those held by the other David Johnstons, as evidenced by the lack of standalone biographies / academic works as per the source list in his article. Support per nomination and Crouch, Swale. This is indeed a common name, which includes the 27 notable men listed upon the David Johnston (disambiguation) page. Support. His name is far, far too common to anoint him as permanent primary topic over all 26 other people listed on the dab page. He'd certainly still be the primary topic for Canadians, but not for most of the rest of the world, especially now that two other David Johnstons (neither of whose articles, to be fair, even existed yet when this was first created at this title) have overtaken him in recent newsworthiness.
