It is one of Nanumea's only tourist attractions. The structure is built out of wood and is painted white and gold. A cross is affixed to the top of the structure. It is one of the only Russian Orthodox churches in Tuvalu, one of the oldest churches in the country, and one of the oldest Russian Orthodox church in the South Pacific.
History
Chetverkin's Church was established in 1903 by wealthy Russian businessmen living in Tuvalu, to serve the local Russian population. It has been preserved for nearly 120 years now and services are still held there every Sunday, including services for Christmas and Easter. Cultural events also take place at the church on occasion.
