TEDxIndianaUniversity is an independent TEDx event held annually in Bloomington, Indiana. Like other TEDx events, TEDxIndianaUniversity obtained a free university event license from TED to hold the conference, with organizers agreeing to follow certain principles. In addition to a larger annual event or "conference" with live speakers, TEDxIndianaUniversity regularly holds Salon events, smaller events to engage the local Bloomington and Indiana University community in discussions of topics relevant to the community.
History
TEDxIndianaUniversity was founded in 2015 by students on the Indiana University Bloomington campus. The co-founders, Ben Brattain and Ari Stoner, originally discussed forming the organization two years prior. “It’s not just about getting students to help organize the event," said Stoner to the Indiana Daily Student, "It’s about starting a creative discussion, a forum, where we can think about important issues and really drive it home on campus and give students a platform and think about how they can change the world.”
