Background, recording and release
On January 6, 2016 before performing a concert at Ziggy's by the Sea in Wilmington, North Carolina, the band sit down for an interview where they confirmed plans to release an acoustic EP alongside in the spring or summer, with their sixth full-length studio album to follow-up shortly after.
The band announced on March 7, 2016, that their new acoustic EP would be titled Stripped and would be released on May 13, 2016. The EP featured six tracks, including a previously unreleased cover of the song "Not an Addict" originally performed by K's Choice. The group embarked on the "Stripped Tour," which featured 22 shows during the summer of 2016, with support from the rock band Like a Storm to promote the new EP along with performing new songs from the upcoming new album.

By mid-December, the band shared additional updates, including their ongoing work on the album, which involved a international vacation to Nicaragua to take short break from the studio before finishing up the new album.
In early 2017, members Marshal Dutton and Cody Hanson continued refining the album with songwriter and producer Sam Brown II. On March 2, 2017, the band announced a summer tour with Nonpoint to further build excitement for their upcoming release.
On April 19, 2017 during a interview with Loudwire the band announced their new single "Remember Me" would be released as the lead single for their upcoming sixth album in the year, and exclusively debuted the new song on Loudwire's official website.
