Irvin Anneix (born 1990) is a French video artist who makes documentary films, web series, and video installations. Anneix's work gives a voice to people he feels are often ignored by mainstream media, such as seniors, teenagers, people from disadvantaged communities, or those who are facing discrimination.

Anneix explores themes such as identity, intimacy, the body, sexuality, family history, and passing down knowledge. Anneix uses social media in his creative process, including casting, building online communities, and self-filming. He sets the direction but lets participants take charge and express their own ideas.

Career

In his first project, Mots d’ados, Irvin collected stories from teenagers, which were then read aloud by other teens in a mobile recording booth traveling around France. The project was first shown at the Centre Pompidou in Paris in 2016. In Extra—filtres, he encourages teens to challenge stereotypes about bodies and gender on social media. In Objets — Relais, teens bring objects from their ancestors to school and explain their stories; these objects are scanned in 3D, helping the teens connect with their family history and learn about the world.
