Established in 2020 by the Al-Ansar Foundation, it is the first private university in Borno State, created to address educational gaps in the region. The university was approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC) in December 2020 and began operations with a focus on fostering academic excellence and community development.
Located in Maiduguri, the campus features modern facilities designed to provide a conducive learning environment. The university offers undergraduate programs in sciences, social and management sciences, and arts and humanities, with plans to expand into postgraduate studies and professional programs. Its mission is to deliver accessible, high-quality education that equips students with the skills needed for growth, while its vision is to become a leading institution in Nigeria and Africa.
