The Machalilla culture, whose more intense centers seem to have been to the north of the province of the Guayas and the south of the one of Manabí, means a continuation of the Valdivia. ARCHAEOLOGY

The vestiges found in the archaeological excavations of the Machalilla culture (1500 A.C.a 1300 A.C) were ceramic objects like pots with patitas of polípodos, earthenware pitchers, whistles, candlesticks of mud, vasijas with handle in form of stirrups painted of two colors, painted massive human figures of red or with bands of that color.
