Is it necessary to have this many pictures of NorthPark Center? Most major malls have only one picture of the mall, and NorthPark Center, being not too notable nationwide, has 5. Shrek05 14:31 26 Jun 2006

While NorthPark may not (yet) be notable nationwide, I don't see any reason not to have the pictures of the mall, for this reason: the mall is the largest in Texas (at 2.35 million square feet) and one of the five largest in the US (according to the International Council of Shopping Centers). Consequently, the pictures give readers of Misplaced Pages a view of how a quarter billion dollars was spent in its recent expansion. With the 1.4-acre Center Park in the middle, NorthPark also becomes the only mall in the nation with a sizeable outdoor area for eating, playing or relaxing. At one time, shortly after its opening by Raymond Nasher, the mall also held the distinction of being largest air-conditioned building in the entire world. --Vincentanton 01:41, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

picture rendering under Thunderbird looks all wrong

The pictures on this page come out all wrong when viewed with Thunderbird (I'm using ver 1.5.0.4 under Windows XP). It looks fine in Internet Explorer (v 6.0, same OS). Looking at the page source, it seems like more of a problem with Thunderbird or the CSS for same, but I'm no web developer. Leaving a note here in the hope that someone more skilled might find it and fix it. --TravisM 02:44, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

Fountains

It's been probably a year since I last visited, but one of the major interior architectural features has always been the fountain with colored lights, and another feature I can't describe well, sort of a mini-pond with a bridge. Unusual features worth mentioning very briefly. Incidentally, having looked at the existing pictures (only one of which is at all attractive or unique), I think we'd do better to find or snap a good picture of the fountains instead. (I'd have to look into whether there are any restrictions on taking pictures; I once had problems taking pictures inside a supermarket for my Spanish class (they thought I was some sort of corporate spy).Lawikitejana 18:29, 19 August 2006 (UTC)

Lacoste

If I can afford it, it's secondary.

Gucci

Gucci is located in the Galleria and not in NorthPark.

It is moving to NorthPark. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aidenfash (talkcontribs) 04:29, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Major Edit (3/26/2007) - Staff Email

I contacted NorthPark Center staff asking them to release some images of the mall into GNU license, since the mall recently underwent construction and could use some new photos. What I got in return was neither photos, nor permission, but a revised version of the Misplaced Pages article deemed to be factually correct by their staff. (A full copy of the email is provided here)

Most of the email has been transplanted into the article, with a few exceptions, as some parts did not meet Misplaced Pages's standards of notability or NPOV.

The biggest omission is the list of stores exclusive to NorthPark. The information does not appear to be notable.

The introduction claims "NorthPark Center is one of the top five shopping mall’s in the United States" but it appears to be outdated because the List of largest shopping malls in the United States would rank the mall as #7 in the US, based on Gross Leasable Area. The infobox has been updated to match up with the International Council of Shopping Centers data, rather than the figures currently displayed on NorthPark Center's website.

There's still a lot that violates NPoV here. I slapped the neutrality tag on it.TenPoundHammer 03:32, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

GPS coordinates

I think the coordinates are 32.868594, -96.773200, for someone who understands the GPS template. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 20.132.68.133 (talk) 13:01, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

Largest in Texas

User:Aidenfash continues to claim that NothPark is the largest in Texas, yet the sources provided (by the mall itself and the Dallas Morning News) state that the mall is the largest in North Texas. Ranked by Gross Leasable Area, the largest mall in Texas would be the Galleria in Houston and then NorthPark. My assumption is that GLA is the standard according to the mall articles and List of largest shopping malls in the United States (where NorthPark is ranked 19th). Thanks, Postoak (talk) 18:37, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

==User:Postoak is very arrogant. I edited the information of NorthPark WITH FACTS but for some reason this person keeps on deleting the references that I found. That is vandalizing!!! The List of largest shopping malls in the United States is old. It's NOT updated. I repeat, "IT IS NOT UPDATED". The expansion of NorthPark finished in 2006 which doubled the size of the original mall, and that list does not include the updated information. Also the Dallas Morning News stated that NorthPark is the largest mall in Texas (not North Texas). Did you not read that part? User: Postoak need to stop messing up with my page and deleting information that I found. Thank you. User:AidenFash.

Actually, User:Aidendash is the one that is arrogant and pehaps ignorant of what is supposed to be contained in the infobox. Do you know what gross leasable area means? The info box is reported in Gross Leasable Area and you are entering the incorrect information there. Did you see the actual GLA referenced at the Northpark site? What do you mean that the list is not updated? The ISCS is the source used and the numbers at this source is highly accurate. If you check the GLA for each reference there for each mall, then List of largest shopping malls in the United States is also accurate. Thank you, Postoak (talk) 03:32, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
Well, I maybe arrogant and ignorant but User:Postoak is one thousand times worse. All the information that I have collected are right and ALL are updated. I do know what the gross leasable area means. Thank you very much. I think you are the one who don't know what it means. All the status that I found are coming from the Dallas Morning News. Are you saying that they are not accurate? User:Aidenfash. By the way you have a few misspells. —Preceding undated comment was added at 03:41, 11 November 2008 (UTC).
Sorry, but The Dallas Morning News is incorrect when it reported the GLA for Texas malls. This IS incorrect. The two sources the paper used was Northpark itself and ICSC.
According to the ICSC, the GLA is 2000000.
According to Northpark Mall, the GLA is 1809800
As you can see, the sources contradict what was published. Yes, they are incorrect. Check this out and I'm sorry for mistyping your name. Postoak (talk) 03:49, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
Sweetie, what information on Earth did you base from to say that the Dallas Morning News is wrong?
Did you actually look at the references above? Please make an attempt to check the sources. What do they tell you? They tell you that the Dallas news is incorrect. Postoak (talk) 04:07, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
Honey did you actually look at the references that I found in NorthPark page before you deleted them? What did they tell you? They tell you that the Dallas Morning News is right. And I had more than one sources not just the Dallas Morning News. You are just too arrogant not to read them all. Why don't you just focus on your Houston Galleria page and I'll go focus on mine. You live in Houston so worry about your areas. I live in Dallas so I'll worry about mine. User:AidenFash. —Preceding undated comment was added at 04:15, 11 November 2008 (UTC).
Actually, I could live in Ethiopia and still edit this article if I choose to. I've requested some assistance at Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Shopping Centers, maybe they can mediate. Thanks, Postoak (talk) 04:29, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
And I can do the same. I'm just posting the correct information that I FOUND, not making it up nor based on my opinion. If you can actually prove that I'm wrong then I'll stop. I'm only contributing the right information for Misplaced Pages. Thanks User:AidenFash. —Preceding undated comment was added at 04:32, 11 November 2008 (UTC).
I did prove that you were wrong. Let's let the project check it out, my friend. Thanks, Postoak (talk) 04:38, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
So did I? Do you read half of the references that I found? User:AidenFash —Preceding undated comment was added at 04:43, 11 November 2008 (UTC).

Apparently the Dallas Morning News changed their story somewhat in this article. Please read the last paragraph. http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/060408dnmetsketch.59fde6d6.html Why say the mall is the largest in North Texas when it is supposedly the largest in Texas? Somewhat inconsistent, don't you think? Postoak (talk) 04:54, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

..and Northpark repeats the same fact in a press release? http://www.northparkcenter.com/press_release/050307e.html Postoak (talk) 05:03, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
I laughed when I read this article. I can't believe you based on this information. I just emailed NorthPark. I'll see what they have to say so we can stop this fight. AidenFash. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aidenfash (talkcontribs) 05:26, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
Yes, I laughed also at the sloppy reporting inconsistencies of the Dallas Morning News. However, this is the same information source that you "based" on. Thanks. Postoak (talk) 05:46, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
And I laughed at how you said the Dallas's sources are wrong based on "your" opinion. User:AidenFash —Preceding unsigned comment added by 144.162.90.179 (talk) 22:58, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
I don't recall saying this, perhaps you are confused. Postoak (talk) 23:46, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
Perhaps YOU are lost.User:AidenFash —Preceding undated comment was added at 03:03, 13 November 2008 (UTC).
To HELP, please tell the idiot Postoak to stop claiming that NorthPark is the 19th largest mall in the country. The Dallas Morning News posted that "according to the International Council of Shopping Centers" plus many other sources, NorthPark is top 5 in size. But this idiot Postoak kept changing the details and saying that it's ranked number 19th. I don't know what his problem is with NorthPark Center. We can't help it if we have more high-end stores than Houston Galleria. We can't help it if Dallas has better upscale malls than Houston. I think he has some big issues with NorthPark. He needs to stop changing the details of the mall according to his opinion and he needs to base on facts and accept the facts. User:AidenFash.

Let me repeat - Misplaced Pages uses gross leasable area as a means to express mall or center size. With that being said, the Dallas Morning News article reference that you continue to use as a source is incorrect. This article itself claims that it uses ICSC and NorthPark Center as a reference. Again, when checking those two sources you can easily see that the article is incorrect. The two sources the paper used was Northpark itself and ICSC.
According to the International Council of shopping Centers, the GLA is 2000000.
According to Northpark Mall, the GLA is 1809800. Note that this reference "NorthPark Facts" is published by NorthPark Center management from the NorthPark Center website.
Furthermore, the Dallas Morning News also claims (in the same reference you provided) that the largest mall in the US by GLA is Mall of America which is also incorrect, the largest by GLA would be King of Prussia Mall. Then the newspaper contradicts itself again with later reports such as this .
I would say that the List of largest shopping malls in the United States is fairly accurate. Many editors keep it maintained however there could be an omission. One thing for sure, there are 18 malls that are listed prior to NorthPark that have more GLA than NorthPark. Each mall is referenced with a link to the ICSC. These larger malls just don't disapppear because the Dallas Morning News says so and they certainly have not lost GLA.
I will ask an administrator to participate in the discussion and please remember to refrain from personal attacks. Thanks, Postoak (talk) 06:17, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
Personal attacks? Do you know what you are talking about? I created a list of the high-end stores and what's around the area and you kept on deleting some stores plus other information. I wrote right next to Barneys New York: The only department in Texas (Which is true since there's a different between Barneys New York and Barneys Co-op). Next thing I know, you deleted what I wrote. I also wrote a list of the stores that other malls in the region have to offer and you deleted the, stating "off topic". You look like a little miserable jerk who sits at home has nothing better to do than deleting informations that people collected. What did you ever do to make a contribution to NorthPark beside deleting stuffs?
And sorry if your city Houston has only one major mall, Galleria, that really counts.
