Rod Machado is a pilot, flight instructor, and author. He is ATP rated , and a member of the Aviation Speakers Bureau. His books include Rod Machado's Private Pilot Handbook (ISBN 978-0963122995) (2nd edition released 2008), Rod Machado's Instrument Pilot's Survival Manual (ISBN 978-0971201507) (2003), and various others. His private pilot handbook is available on audiobook and MP3 as well as several others on CD and video which were never books.

Ratings and Certificates

Rod has acquired all the ratings up to ATP. This would be the private pilot certificate, instrument rating, and commercial pilot Certificate. He also has various type ratings. These are ratings to fly specific planes over a weight limit designated by the FAA.

History

Rod Machado was born in the the bay area in 1953. He has a variety of european heritage. He began flying at 16 after selling his motorcycle, did his first solo flight at 17, and was licensed by instructor Amelia Reid. He became a flight instructor several years later. He then moved to southern California. He watched comedy speakers like Jerry Seinfeld to gain experience speaking.
