BASIC INFO

Founded in 1896. Population: 49,000 people. Telephone area code is 42-373 (or 273 if you call from inside of Primorsky Krai). The nearest Railway Station (Chuguyevka) is located 198 km (135 miles) from Dalnegorsk. The nearest Sea Port (Rudnaya Pristan) is 35 km (24 miles) from the town. Highway distance to Vladivostok: 517 km (352 miles).

BUSINESS & INDUSTRY

Most population of the town and Dalnegorsky Region are employed by two industrial enterprises: stock company Bor and stock company Dalpolimetal.

Established in 1965, Bor is the world's largest specialized chemical enterprise. Due to the unique deposits of commercial minerals found in the Region and the high technologies Bor successfully operates in the world market and is included in the list of Russia's 40 most prospective enterprises. 75% of its production is exported to Great Britain, Italy, France, Japan, Australia, Korea, China, and other countries in Europe and Asia.

Dalpolimetal (established in 1897) produces 58% of Russia's lead. Two thirds of its production is exported to Japan, China, and Korea.

Despite the highly-developed industrializtion of Dalnegorsky Region, over 90% of its territory is covered with cedar-decidous forests which attract nature tourism enthusiasts.
