North Olmsted High School is a public school located in the Cleveland suburb of North Olmsted, Ohio. It is the only high school administered by North Olmsted City Schools. Approximately 1,602 students are enrolled in the school, and as of the 2008-2009 school year, the principal is Jeff Stanton. School activities include Quiz Bowl, a chess club, and a school literary magazine.

Awards and Reportcard

The School District recently passed a levy on February 6th, 2007, the fifth attempt after four previous failures. 4,077 votes were cast for the Levy and 3,383 votes were cast against the Levy.

Despite levy problems, North Olmsted High School continues to be awarded "Excellent" status on its school report card meeting 12 out of 12 state indicators for the 2006-2007 school year, as well as 2005-2006, 2004-2005, and 2003-2004. In 2008, the school earned "Excellent with Distinction" Status for the 2008-2009 school year.

Athletics

In 1977, 1985, 1996, and 1999 the school was the Ohio state champion in boys' soccer.

School Day

School is in session from 7:45 a.m. - 3:05 p.m., with 50-minute periods, with 5 minutes in between. There are 11 total periods, with 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th combined in pairs of two (4/5, 6/7, 8/9).

Fight Song(s)

The school district's fight songs are On Wisconsin (On Wis) and War Eagle.

Noteable Events

On September 16, 1990, two students burned down the front of North Olmsed High School, causing North Olmsted High School students to goto the I-X Center to learn school there, where students could be learning subjects and be right by circus animals.

In 1996, the prom was held at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame located in Cleveland, Ohio.
