The Devil's Arithmetic

It should be clear from the diff that I did not vandalize this page. I was merely cleaning up after destructive edits by 216.131.29.178. Thanks. 68.117.129.156 (talk) 05:07, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

Texas

Noticed you goofed a bit. FYI, if you do again, all you have to do is goto the page history button, open the history, click your edit (which should be the top of the page), & hit undo... (I've boobed, too, & used it. ;D) Just put "rv self" in the edit summary. You can try again to get what you intended, too, if you go back one. TREKphiler 07:34, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Colloidal Crystal

I've been working on the page Colloidal Crystal, so if anyone who happens to read this please take a look. Abce2 (talk) 03:52, 14 January 2009 (UTC)Abce2

Hi Abce2! Colloidal crystal has been written by a newcomer to Misplaced Pages. He (or she) doesn't yet have the skill to present citations in the format for Misplaced Pages to display them automatically, but at least he has been extremely diligent in providing citations, and lots of them. You have deleted the essential information so now there is no link between statements in the article and the references at the bottom of the page. All Misplaced Pages articles must be supported by citations to indicate the source of each item of information. I will restore the citations in parentheses so that someone, Logger9 or me or anybody else, can eventually convert the citations into the best format. Please don't delete them. Happy editing! Today on January 18, 09 I got K.K Metal from the almost famous K.K. Also today I got 81,000 bells for selling foreign fruits to Nook. Also I caught a Ceolacanth.

Club Penguin Talk

Hi! While generally you're right, and we shouldn't delete talk posts, there are exceptions: the main ones are those that are seriously out of place, such as BLP concerns and attack posts, but sometimes we also tend to get a lot of forum-like posts which need to be removed per WP:NOTFORUM. This is especially a problem on Club Penguin, as there is a tendancy for people to want to post their in-game details in order to make friends, which is a great thing, only this isn't the place to do it. :) Anyway, sorry for any confusion, as I should have posted a better edit summary, but I figured that I should let you know why I deleted the comments. - Bilby (talk) 01:18, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Ok, now I see why you did that. I'm glad you have some humility, because now days sometimes it's hard to find people like that. Abce2 (talk) 03:54, 31 January 2009 (UTC)Abce2

Your Post at WP:UAA

I noticed your post at the bottom of UAA. I just wanted to give you a heads up that if you feel that there is a username that is a blatant violation of the username policy, you are more than welcome to report it. In addition to reports from users, there is also a bot that scans usernames as they are created to look for problems. Cheers, TNXMan 03:29, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Yumekui Kenbun

Just a friendly note on Yumekui Kenbun. While the article wasn't exactly clear, it definitely didn't meet the definition of patent nonsense: "Pages consisting purely of incoherent text or gibberish with no meaningful content or history. This does not include poor writing..." Also, putting a speedy tag on an article like this just one minute after creation is considered a bit bitey by many Wikipedians. Best thing to do in a situation like that is a quick gsearch (which is what let me add the intro), and tag for things like refs and notability. Re:My Sandbox

Hey: (a) I applaud your revert of my page, even if it wasn't vandalism. (This account is my alt, soon to be my main) When I first started on Misplaced Pages with the Recent Changes Patrol, I sometimes was a little quick with the trigger. But if it had been vandalism, I would have felt good knowing people like you were out there looking out. (b) I would look into RCP scripts and whatnot. Twinkle and Popups would help. --Kyubi no Kitsune 23:34, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

Regarding the categorization of the 11th Regiment of Connecticut Militia article

Please take a look at Category:Connecticut in the American Revolution and note that the sub category Category:Connecticut regiments of the Continental Army contains the 1st, the 1st of 1775, the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th. Thanks to your reversal of my change it does not contain the 11th. Note that according to WP:SUBCAT "Subcategories are often created in order to break down the members of a category into smaller sets which are easier to browse. This means that articles belonging to such a subcategory should not be placed in the parent category also. For example, Category:Bridges is broken down by country, so Angers Bridge appears in Category:Bridges in France, but not in the parent Category:Bridges.". Your reversal of my edit seems to be in violation of those recommendations. 67.86.73.252 (talk) 02:50, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Thank you!

Hi! Thanks for stopping by and leaving me a barnstar! BTW - You are doing a great job with your vandal fighting... vandal fighting may seem like a minor role but you are part of a large group of people who are trying hard to make Misplaced Pages as good as it can be. Way to go! κaτaʟavenoC 03:41, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

Award

Hi Abce2, I just wanted to say Thank you for the Barnstar. It was a very nice gesture. Although, I'm not quite sure what I've done to deserve it.

Your message: ‘Ahhhhh! You beat me!’ left me thinking, may I ask at what (or with what) did I beat you?

Question on revert/warning

I don't have a big problem with this edit being reverted, but I don't at all understand why you then warned them. Could you please explain what made their sandbox edit vandalism? --OnoremDil 01:12, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

That seems pretty weak for a vandalism warning. Looks like it isn't your first of the day for fairly tame sandbox edits either. I realize that even the sandbox has limits, but cut people some slack...or at least explain with something other than a templated vandalism warning what might not be appropriate about it. --OnoremDil 01:18, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

Sandbox

Sorry about deleting that. I didn't notice. 169.233.58.87 (talk) 01:55, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

Promotion?

If they're adding external links, just delete 'em; it falls under "no spam". If it's content that sounds like an ad, you could try rewriting it so it's less "ad-like" (which could get it challenged & deleted for no reliable source), or, if you're inclined, verify with a good source & rewrite. Hope this helps. TREKphiler 19:37, 28 March 2009 (UTC)

Biting noobs

Hello Abce2. Please don't warn new editors for making edits like this and this to the sandbox, even if they remove the header, even if they use a rude word. The sandbox is for new users to experiment without the feeling they are causing damage. Thanks. -- zzuuzz 01:04, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

Warning IP over vandalism

Hi, You warned a user here over this edit which I reverted here. It's usually considered polite to not warn the user unless you reverted the vandalism yourself. You edit conflicted me while I was trying to warn him. Cheers — Deon555I'm BACK! 14:24, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

Thanks!

Just a (belated) note to thank you for your comments to my page. My username has been mildly "polarizing" over the years. I can only assume that you have an excellent sense of humour. Just like me. Keep up the noble efforts, O WikiWarrior! Best Regards, Hamster Sandwich (talk) 19:32, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

Uh, no.

I am very aware of the rules here regarding civility. What you're clearly unaware of is the fact that the user in question is a long-term vandal who has been creating accounts en masse for nearly five years. I'd like to direct your attention to WP:LTA/MG. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 23:37, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

No prob.  :) It's just that this guy has been getting under my skin and that of a lot of other longtime editors for years. Literally. I apologize for biting you, but I was still seething from this latest rash of sockpuppet accounts. I'll delete the comment; he has never once answered anyone on a talk page. You were right to point it out to me and I shouldn't have bitten back. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 23:41, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

PMDrive1061 (talk) has given you a cookie! Cookies promote WikiLove and hopefully this one has made your day better. Spread the WikiLove by giving someone else a cookie, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past or a good friend. Happy munching!

Spread the goodness of cookies by adding {{subst:Cookie}} to someone's talk page with a friendly message, or eat this cookie on the giver's talk page with {{subst:munch}}!

I figured I owe you one...

...so I have given you rollback rights. This poor, misused site can't have enough vandal slayers and you've more than earned the tool. Makes me feel a bit better after biting you the other day as well.  :) Enjoy the new privilege; I know you'll use it well. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 00:59, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

  • My bad...! I thought you knew. It means that you can roll back vandalism to an existing article with a single mouse click. So, if someone does a bunch of rapid-fire vandalism to an existing article (or even one or two bad edits) all it'll take is a click to send the article back to the last good version. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 01:04, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

You bet. As I said, you more than earned the right. Gotta run; have fun! --PMDrive1061 (talk) 01:08, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

No prob. If you go into the edit history of a vandalized article, you'll now have an option simply marked "rollback" next to the last edit. If the last edit(s) was vandalism, it'll revert all edits from that user back to the last good edit. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 20:36, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

Thank you! I honestly appreciate that. Enjoy the new tools. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 20:41, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

User talk:NawlinWiki

Hi Abce2 I mistakenly deleted your comment on NawlinWiki's page and I reposted it but it is duplicated now. BigDunc 21:54, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

hello

how can I help out by keeping out vandals? Leaf shaped ant (talk) 22:30, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

Thanks!

I use Huggle to fight vandalism (you may have heard of it). If you want to use huggle, you first need rollback, which can be requested at WP:PERM. In the mean time you can augment twinkle with VandalFighter, which gives you a live recent changes feed, or Lupin's tool, which shows you suspicious recent changes.--Ipatrol (talk) 22:13, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

Patrol

Hey, just a friendly note that you should check to make sure that when you are New Page Patrolling, you have patrolled new pages you've CSD tagged. I came across some you tagged without patrolling. However, keep up the good work! --Riotrocket8676 22:32, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, bro.

I go away for a few minutes and this idiot's sockpuppets reappear every so often. The idiot in question is yet another fuzz-nutted teenager who logs onto Encyclopedia Dramatica and gets his marching orders from a hard-banned user named JarlaxleArtemis, also known as "Grawp." This numbskull was banned about two years ago ane every so often, we get hammered by his little wannabes. It's an annoyance, but the drooling little fools eventually go away. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 23:25, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
