Hi XinJeisan, welcome back. Well, we could always use help of course. The end of the current basho is coming up next Sunday, and updating the tables etc. is a much smaller job with one more hand. Also, there are a few wrestlers who have made their way up to makuuchi who don't yet have articles (though we have recently been following a 3 consecutive makuuchi appearances rule of thumb for giving a wrestler an article). You can find them easily in the List of active sumo wrestlers article. I recently took a bunch of pictures at 2 bashos and have added pics to all remaining makuuchi guys who have articles (except for Homasho who keeps dropping out). We could always use more pics (though not such an easy idea if you one doesn't have any pics to use, of course). We were toying with the idea of redirecting heya articles to 5 larger Ichimon articles, where under a description of the Ichimon, each heya would have a subsection. Have not moved on it, because it just seemed a daunting task. The List of past sumo wrestlers has grown rather long and could always use some additions. Pawnkingthree has started up a List of sumo record holders article that is definitely worth a look and might need a few more tables he hasn't thought of. Ah, there was a point brought up (maybe by you?) that many wrestlers from before 1958 have the template tournament boxes and this leads to misleading information. We went back and reverted quite a few of these tournament tables to regular wiki tables to avoid this discrepancy. There are still a number of unchanged articles floating out there though. These are just some ideas that came up when you asked. Feel free to pick and choose if any of these is to your liking. One nice surprise is that our work is being emulated at Japanese wikipedia. More and more articles over there have pictures and infoboxes and our-style tournament boxes now that someone has ported the templates over there. FourTildes (talk) 20:36, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
- A warm welcome back from me too. I was thinking that we could really do with an article on foreign participation in sumo, particularly with the Roho/Wakanoho controversy around. I was intending to expand the current section of the main sumo article but haven't had the time -- it could easily justify an article on its own though. That's all that springs to mind for now but I'm sure I think of other things. Regards, --Pawnkingthree (talk) 16:27, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
