OK, I have to ask...

...what is the big question mark box with the steadily incrementing number for? It's been on my mind all day! (Feel free to tell me to mind my own business, but my curiosity knows no bounds... ;-)

If I told you I would only get in trouble with certain people, so I would prefer not to say. I shall remain enigmatic on its meaning, people are welcome to guess though. O Fenian (talk) 19:26, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
No worries! In that case, I'm going to guess a hatch is involved... TFOWR 19:32, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
Nothing to do with popular culture I am afraid. O Fenian (talk) 21:09, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

Hello, O Fenian. You have new messages at The ed17's talk page.

Ryan kirkpatrick

G'day, have you come across any Ryan kirkpatrick IP socks in the last few days? I thought he was being suspiciously quiet and so I did a search for one of his more common misspellings, which led me to this. I love how, on his talk page, he uses language exactly the same as Ryan kirkpatrick's to tell us all he is not Ryan kirkpatrick. YSSYguy (talk) 03:44, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

Not since the last one you added to the report. It is stretching good faith a bit far to ask us to believe that a similarly illiterate, similarly named editor, editing the exact same articles is a different editor to Ryan kirkpatrick.. O Fenian (talk) 09:03, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
He's back. YSSYguy (talk) 14:38, 27 August 2010 (UTC)

WP:ANI

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there currently is a discussion at Misplaced Pages:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. Salvio ( ) 19:48, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

I knew I should have just edit warred instead.. O Fenian (talk) 20:18, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
I think you acted in good faith and avoided a war. Anyway, looks like they've added a few references now. gonads 20:21, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
I have looked at one of the sources provided to "prove" that Edinburgh University A.F.C. is sponsored by Edinburgh University and a list of its current sponsors is given and guess what Edinburgh University is not one of them. C of E has a habbit of adding sources which he says back up the claims he is making with them, when in fact the are the opposuite and prove that they are not sponsored by who he claims.Mo ainm~Talk 20:29, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
Indeed. Since two editors requested that he not add references that do not explicitly source the claims made here The C of E now has a request for comment to look forward to, assuming Mo ainm is willing to certify it? O Fenian (talk) 20:34, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
Fire away. Mo ainm~Talk 20:35, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
OK, no need for that. I'll back down on this occasion since I cannot defend myself without access to my own computer. The C of E. God Save The Queen! (talk) 20:38, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
Apologies, I didn't check that they were valid. Interestingly this has cropped up. gonads 20:42, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
Allow me to explain that, gonads3. I simply userfied it so I had the main template to continue along with the eventual sourcing without having parts removed so I could source the existing ones while resisting the temptation to add more. The C of E. God Save The Queen! (talk) 20:48, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
I look forward to the finished article. I hope your computer troubles resolve themselves soon. gonads 20:53, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

The C of E's edit count for June was 305 edits. He put up the internet problems template on 29 June. His current edit count for the 22 days of July gone so far is 516. The request for comment will be going ahead. O Fenian (talk) 21:37, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

Which rfc? gonads 21:58, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
The one mentioned above, at 20:34 UTC. O Fenian (talk) 22:01, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
I see... gonads 22:02, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
I'd be happy to comment when it's available. gonads 22:18, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
It will not be for a couple of weeks I do not believe, since I will be reasonable enough not to create it while The C of E is on holiday. O Fenian (talk) 22:43, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

Pictures

Can you please explain to me why you've placed those tags on the pictures I uploaded? The event poster is absolutely fine and is used in all Martial Arts pages, e.g. UFC 100, so your tag for that seems wrong to me. The other two can't be replaced by a free image either. RE: the IRA and drugs

Listen I think the section should be reverted to it's original form or it should included a counterpoint to the statement. The RUC source implies that the IRA were involved with drugs while the Gardai, Tim Pat Coogan and Jack Holland maintain that there was no involvement. Even the Taylor Report highlights the actions taken by the IRA against drug dealers amongst their own ranks and outside. Also the Jack Holland statement is credible if you look at the statistics of drug usage in Belfast compared to Dublin in the 80's. Many people involved with the PIRA and Sinn Fein were involved in local campaigns against drugs. The issue is really disputed and the section should state that the charge is really disputed. For the sake of neutrality and balance the source from the RUC should be included and an opposing viewpoint Exiledone (talk) 11:42, 10 September 2010 (UTC)

Factocop is turning out to be quite the name maker... any advice on what we can do with him/her?--NorthernCounties (talk) 17:50, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

Well, for starters, don't violate WP:3RR. :-) --SarekOfVulcan (talk) 17:55, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
Which he has managed to do on 4 articles, nice to see the "wrong version" rewards that.. O Fenian (talk) 17:56, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
Certain people seem to flourish whilst partaking in repetitive and quite pointless edit wars! Either he/she doesn't get that Misplaced Pages isn't a medium for his/her views, or he/she just enjoys being a mild hiccup in our otherwise normal days.--NorthernCounties (talk) 18:04, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

John McKeague

I feel the phrase "homosexual paedophile" is being loosely interpreted that he was indeed gay which seems less likely than he was simply a pedophile who preyed on boys rather than girls. As you have access to the source what can be interpreted by the phrase? Is there anything besides the phrase itself that suggests he had sexual relationships with adult men? Recent Derry bombing

Would this not suffice as an entry on the 2010 list of terrorist incidents? It seems to have been adequately sourced as a RIRA attack. WikiuserNI (talk) 10:51, 7 October 2010 (UTC)

SPI TMC ABC XYZ

I've suggested TMC's SPI could be closed, as the IPs listed are stale and there's now a comm ban in place. Feel free to disagree, naturally! TFOWR 10:02, 14 October 2010 (UTC)

It would seem time to close, I will get round to listing a couple of accounts in a new report when I have time. 10:16, 14 October 2010 (UTC)

I don't believe it - see Special:Contributions/Bel9. Hopefully we caught him quick this time. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoLo dicono a Signa. 15:07, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

Good catch. I wonder how many more of his articles we need to delete before he gets the message? O Fenian (talk) 15:29, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
Honestly, at this point I'm not sure he's going to get the message. He may get tired of being constantly blocked, but I have no idea if/when that's going to happen. Ah, well...at least my Monday's off to a crackin' start. :-) --Ser Amantio di NicolaoLo dicono a Signa. 15:33, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
Yes, you may be right. I had forgotten that any attempt to explain things to him was a fruitless exercise. Any normal people on seeing all their work repeatedly deleted would probably find a new hobby, but obviously Ryan is a special case.. O Fenian (talk) 15:35, 25 October 2010 (UTC)
Well, it's good training for the office, at least. Teaches a fellow patience. Pity we can't do an IP block.--Ser Amantio di NicolaoLo dicono a Signa. 15:36, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

A propos this conversation, even though the Lufthansa Flight 4043 article was create by a banned user, the information is verifiable with cited references. Why revert the addition of the material to the Lufthansa article?

In my opinion, it would be better if his work was deleted. It may be a long shot, but it is the best way of convincing him to stop editing Misplaced Pages. O Fenian (talk) 16:07, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

I don't believe it. He's back again. I have that SPI page on speed-dial now. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoLo dicono a Signa. 20:54, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

My talk page

Could you possibly see the thread brewing in my talk page? I have no idea if there is any substance to the user's comments at the moment, but I was just hoping you could clarify whose edits you were reverting and whether the page in question is covered by any IRR or other AE decisions and where they are listed? Thanks, S.G. ping! 10:38, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
