The Featured Sound Main Page Proposal Voter Barnstar
I was truly humbled by the overwhelming community support for the recent proposal to place featured sounds on the main page. The proposal closed on Tuesday with 57 people in support and only 2 in opposition.

It should take a few weeks for everything to get coded and tested, and once that is done the community will be presented with a mock up to assess on aesthetic appeal.

Finally, I invite all of you to participate in the featured sounds process itself. Whether you're a performer, an uploader, or just come across a sound file you find top quality, and that meets the featured sound criteria, you can nominate it at Misplaced Pages:Featured sound candidates. Featured sounds is also looking for people to help assess candidates (also at Misplaced Pages:Featured sound candidates.)

Thanks again for such a strong showing of support, and I hope to see you at featured sounds in the future.

Work It Out (Beyoncé Knowles song)

Hello Adabow. I must ask another favor, if it is okay with you. Work It Out (Beyoncé Knowles song) went through its GA-Review and the reviewer stated that the article needs a MAJOR copy-editing! With the precise work you've done on Flaws and All, I was wondering if you could do the same for this article as well? Please let me know if you would be able to do this, thank you :] Theuhohreo (talk) 23:30, 23 March 2011 (UTC)

"You Make Me Wanna"

Hi Adabow, the article has been reviewed here, please address the issues for its promotion :)--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 05:19, 25 March 2011 (UTC)

Hi :) I am passing it. Also I changed it from copies to clones, I think its more appropriate. Also, if you prefer some of those instead, its fine. Lastly, as for ref #6, there is indeed an author: Stephen Thomas Erlewine, so please add it and check the link.--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 23:17, 25 March 2011 (UTC)

Please review "Tennis New Zealand"

Hello Adabow, I created this article Tennis New Zealand and I would appreciate any feedback. If you have any time, could you take a look at it. I was thinking as you are one of the senior members of WP NZ, you would be able to guide me to improve this article. And, of course, you are free to edit the article directly, thanks in advance. The review is up!

You were right. Thank you so much for giving me the right advice. PR of "Irresistible" is up. The reviewer asked to covert some of the passive voice sentences to active voice. Can you help me with that? I converted one or two, and am having a hard time finding out the subject and object, lol. Novice7 (talk) 04:27, 27 March 2011 (UTC)

Lol, yeah, I fixed it. Btw, can you help me out on the close paraphrasing issue? If you're not free, it's okay :) Novice7 (talk) 03:46, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
Adabow, is it okay if I use "hebdomadally" instead of "each week"? Novice7 (talk) 04:29, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
Lol, okay. It is a rare word, so I thought I should use it :D Novice7 (talk) 04:47, 28 March 2011 (UTC)

RE:

I was thinking the same thing when it was first uploaded. It looks very fan-arty. But I saw it used on a site somewhere sometime, so I suppose it may be the real deal considering this cover. Candyo32 04:45, 27 March 2011 (UTC)

Destiny's Child

Hi my friend. Most of Beyonce's Singles have been taken to GAs. A few articles remain but information is too scarce. So i was a bit surprised when i saw that at her Wiki project, the majority of her articles are classified as Start Class. Then, i saw that all Destiny's Child article are associated to her Wiki project. So i am going to revamp the Destiny's child singles one by one. Will you help? Jivesh Talk2Me 18:05, 27 March 2011 (UTC)

Well, i did not really mean that i did not want to do Beyonce's DVDs or tours. It's just that i do not know how to expand them. i have asked for help countless times but no one was ready to do so. So, i prefer switching to Destiny Child articles as they also form part of the Wiki-project.
And wow, you have all that information. It will be of great help. Thanks in advance By the way, you did an amazing job on Above and Beyonce. I would really like you taking all her DVDs to GA. I shall work on I Am... World Tour in the near future. Jivesh Talk2Me 11:30, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
Can we use this to source that Beyonce's debut album sold 11 million copies? Jivesh Talk2Me 11:35, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
Well you kind of convinced me. So i am going to stick on Bey's articles. Jivesh Talk2Me 15:17, 29 March 2011 (UTC)

Have a look at this. It is simply great. Can it be used? Jivesh Talk2Me 16:51, 29 March 2011 (UTC)

Okay, thanks. By the way, i am starting to work on "I Am... tour". Whenever you get time, give me a short list with notes about what it needs. Does the concert synopsis require references? Jivesh Talk2Me 05:52, 30 March 2011 (UTC)
Thank you. Jivesh Talk2Me 07:13, 30 March 2011 (UTC)

RE: Halo

Thank you so much for those links, and for the heads-up :D. If you want to make some comments with a neutral ending, I have no problem Tbhotch* 06:49, 29 March 2011 (UTC).

Hank Williams

The article has no citations??? How's that??? all the statements in the article are properly sourced. I think that there's been a confusion by a recent change maid by a person that corrected copy edits that separated in smaller paragraphs the sourced material. I will correct this and maybe you can give it another look, since I wrote the article in base of some of the articles you previously cited.--GDuwenTell me! 15:21, 29 March 2011 (UTC)

No problem, I didn't realize neither of that until I read the article again. The format was changed and most of the sources displaced. I will renominate it again later.--GDuwenTell me! 20:33, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

The Words That Maketh Murder

WikiCup 2011 March newsletter

We are half way through round two of the WikiCup, which will end on 28 April. Of the 64 current contestants, 32 will make it through to the next round; the two highest in each pool, and the 16 next highest scorers. At the time of writing, our current overall leader is Zanzibar Hurricanehink (submissions) with 231 points, who leads Pool H. Poland Piotrus (submissions) (Pool G) also has over 200 points, while 9 others (three of whom are in Pool D) have over 100 points. Remember that certain content (specifically, articles/portals included in at least 20 Wikipedias as of 31 December 2010 or articles which are considered "vital") is worth double points if promoted to good or featured status, or if it appears on the main page in the Did You Know column. There were some articles last round which were eligible for double points, but which were not claimed for. For more details, see Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Scoring.

A running total of claims can be seen here. However, numerous competitors are yet to score at all- please remember to submit content soon after it is promoted, so that the judges are able to review entries. The number of points that will be needed to reach round three is not clear- everyone needs to get their entries in now to guarantee their places! If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Misplaced Pages talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Misplaced Pages:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Femme Fatale

So, I got myself the album (I downloaded it off OVI as I couldn't wait :D).. It's amazin'!! But, "Big Fat Bass" sounds too BEP-y. The tracks I liked are "Criminal", "Trouble for Me", "I Wanna Go", "Inside Out".... Novice7 (talk) 06:22, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

I can't choose. All the tracks are too good :P How was April 1? Novice7 (talk) 06:27, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
Lol, I didn't buy the copy yet. I took it off OVI (cheaper and lossy). I'll be going for the Deluxe Edition soon (physical copy). I liked the song "Gasoline" (kinda resembles "Toxic") too :) Well, practical jokes are more prevalent. Omg, I haven't seen the DYKs yet, but I did see the AfDs. Novice7 (talk) 10:03, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
Lol, it's funny :D I was looking at this. Lmao, too funny. Novice7 (talk) 10:45, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

Re

Adabow, please read it well. It has been stated otherwise. And do you think that "Crazy in Love" would have got a GOLD certification for only 47000 digital downloads? And "Baby Boy" PLATINUM for 6000 downloads? Jivesh Talk2Me 08:26, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

If you search RIAA database, you will see a small DI below the certification. Jivesh Talk2Me 08:27, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

Please read the reply of Paul again. I am not fabulating anything. Jivesh Talk2Me 08:27, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

Carlo asked about Beyonce's Dangerously In Love Pt. 2 (130K), her Irremplazable (Spanish-language) EP (57K) and Jay-Z's '03 Bonnie & Clyde (317K).

Next, I have a question about Usher's Love In This Club Pt. 2 (366K), Justin Timberlake/Beyonce's Until The End Of Time (271K plus 37K for a solo entry), and Beyonce's Live At Wembley (197K). Lara March asked about Beyonce's Diva (906K), Ego (357K) and Sweet Dreams (1,488,000). Matteo Carta wants to know about physical sales of three Beyonce singles: Crazy In Love (47K), Baby Boy (6K) and Me Myself And I (119K).

Pretending an edit is vandalism

  • WP:NPA - #Accusations about personal behavior that lack evidence.
  • WP:VANDAL - #Vandalism is any addition, removal, or change of content in a deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of Misplaced Pages. Examples of typical vandalism are adding irrelevant obscenities and crude humor to a page, illegitimately blanking pages, and inserting patent nonsense into a page.
  • WP:Avoid the word "vandal"

Bearian's edit comment essentially said "reverting vandal" - implying my removal of the See Also link that lacked any external coverage qualifying it to behave like a category (See here, here) is "vandalism" because he doesn't like it.

Can you explain how this is not a personal attack by its very definition? Bulldog123 14:17, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

  • (*sigh*) The gentleman doth protest too much, methinks. Perhaps “revert disruptive edit” would have been more appropriate wording. Inasmuch as Bulldog has a long track record of tendentious editing that is strongly punctuated with…
  1. behavior such as nominating articles for AfDs,
  2. and then tag-bombing articles when the AfDs fail, as well as,
  3. wholesale deletion of material from articles he disapproves of (this being an issue over another one of those), and
  4. since Bulldog knows full well the community has just about reached the end of its rope with someone who is rather inescapably a single-purpose account, (his contributions),
…“vandal” isn’t too far off the mark, IMHO.
It also seems to me that bitterly complaining about being the recipient of a personal attack took some hubris since Bulldog appears to have applied the Chicago style of local elections to the practice: engage in personal attacks early and often. Greg L (talk) 22:09, 2 April 2011 (UTC)
