Not through any choice of my own though, I've been persecuted here, and this is the result. You can ignore the fact that the vast majority of my edits were good faith, that the vast majority of my rpp actions were appropriate, that I have welcomed new users etc, it's not important.

Blocked

Colofac, the gratuitous insults and abuse which you've directed towards new users over the course of the past few days (, , , , ) has been utterly unacceptable.

As a consequence of your inappropriate conduct, I am blocking you from editing for a period of one week, and strongly suggest that you reconsider your approach to interacting with other contributors in the future; otherwise, the next block is likely to be indefinite. Request reason:

The list of reasons provided are mostly to do with an earlier conflict that I had agreed to disengage from and the block is therefore unwarranted. Further to this, I feel I have been hounded by other users related to this discussion. I disagree that I have been overly uncivil regarding this users' conduct. I do however, accept that my conduct related to User:NNU-1-17100215 may have been unacceptable, and would be willing to make a full apology on their page for my conduct.

Decline reason:

The diffs Kirill lists and a quick glance at your other contributions make it abundantly clear that whether you understand it or not, you have been incredibly uncivil, to multiple users. It's not about any particular conflict you're in; it's about the fact that you currently don't seem to be able speak to users you disagree with in a calm, non-insulting manner. A successful unblock request here will have to convince us that you understand that the incivility problem is real, and convince us that you don't intend to continue insulting or attacking people. In which case, blank this page and protect it for a week please, If you aren't going to let me edit here, at least prevent the trolls who have caused this to mock me. Ok, I double-checked our policies: neither I nor you may blank your talk page (declined unblock requests for active block notices may not be removed), but if you really want the rest of it gone, you can remove the content from before the point where you were blocked, as long as you leave behind the block-related content. I'm not going to protect the page at this point, either, but I will keep an eye on it, and if there's any more baiting that goes on, I'll deal with those posts/users. A fluffernutter is a sandwich! These edits are absolutely beyond the pale. Do you have any idea just how fast word of this will travel? Permanent impressions have been formed from these posts about Misplaced Pages and foreigners. If we blocked all xenophobes, there would still be dozens left. :) Forgiveness and reconciliation eh? Welllll, okay. You're probably right. You do, after all, have excellent judgement.

Colofac, if you're reading this: Please be kind to new editors. They're already nervous and easily discouraged. Please, put yourself in their shoes. (I'm also talking about your edits before the two aforementioned posts.) Please, when you're unblocked, be civil and kind. Thank you.

I'm not sure I understand where you're coming from. Kidding! :) :) :) Seriously. Exactly! So how do we do it? At Misplaced Pages, we implore people. That's all we've come up with so far. I guess me getting mad doesn't help. But seeing the remark calling edits by Chinese people "vile propaganda" at an ANI page with the teacher reading, ooooooooooooo. I didn't like that one bit. All you've done is enforce the stereotype that Wikipedians hate new editors. You've accused them of spreading vile propaganda while simultaneously having it on your userpage, and almost POINTily disrupted the CSD process by tagging when they do not apply for the sole reason that the editors were Chinese, and removing a welcome for that reason too. Upon being blocked, you've merely been hinting that LikeLakers2 and ChristianandJericho deserved being blocked too. You're digging yourself into a very deep hole, and when your block expires it would be wise to avoid such situations in the future. →Στc. 08:20, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

Advice

I note that you have been editing Misplaced Pages for about three weeks now, and in that time you've made 298 edits. Of these, only 40 (15.33%) have been to articles, while 134 (51.34%) have been to user talk pages and 74 (28.35%) have been to the Misplaced Pages domain. That's a lot of discussing for not much editing. I think perhaps your priorities are a bit askew -- discussion on Misplaced Pages should primarily be in support of the editing, it is not an end in itself, so you should probably refocus your efforts on making contributions to articles. Your experiences as an editor will inform your future discussions, and you'll understand better the points of view of other editors. Beyond My Ken (talk) 22:18, 18 September 2011 (UTC)

People have had the opportunity to express their views about the block and the actions that caused it, as well as offering advice, above; with that done, there's no need for further discussion or viewpoints, since Colofac has said he does not intend to appeal the block again. Colofac has asked that people stop editing this page so that he doesn't get the orange bar all the time while he's reading. (Before you say "Why doesn't he just...", see WP:BEANS.)
