Baron Samedi is a fictional character in the Marvel Universe.

Publication history

Baron Samedi first appeared in Strange Tales #171 (December 1973), and was created by Len Wein and Gene Colan.

The character subsequently appears in Doctor Strange, Sorcerer Supreme #16 (April 1990).

Fictional character biography

Baron Samedi was an agent of A.I.M. who created pseudo-zombies for use in Haiti. He established a base beneath a graveyard, transforming local people into mindless slaves. Brother Voodoo became aware of the raids conducted by Baron Samedi zombies, and tracked him back to the cemetery. Brother Voodoo fought Samedi's army of zombies but was brought down by their sheer numbers. Samedi tried to transform Brother Voodoo into one of his servants, but Brother Voodoo was able to escape and destroyed the machine enslaving the people. Samedi tried to kill Brother Voodoo, but a stray laser beam from his staff accidentally brought his machines down upon himself, crushing Samedi.
