Backyard Monsters is a game that you can play on Facebook. Backyard Monsters (formerly Desktop Creatures) is a strategy game by Kixeye, in which players create and manage a small monster town on some grassland. This base is part of a large world with many other players in it, which can attack each other.

The game has been in development since the first half of 2009. The game is now in public alpha testing. As with all Kixeye it is free to play, although extras can be bought. Unlike most Kixeye games (with the exception of Desktop Defender), it has initially only been released to Facebook.

Resources

There are 4 resources, twigs, pebbles, putty, and goo.

Twigs

Twigs can be harvested from the Twig Snapper. They are used along with pebbles and sometimes putty to build and upgrade buildings. Also, when you build a catapult, you can fling in twigs to damage buildings while attacking.

Pebbles

Pebbles can be harvested from the Pebble Shiner. They can be used to build and upgrade buildings along with twigs, and in some cases, putty. Pebbles can also be catapulted when attacking to damage buildings.

Putty

Putty can be harvested from the Putty Squisher. Putty can be used to build and upgrade certain buildings along with twigs and pebbles. The meain use of putty, though, is to research and upgrade monsters. Putty can be flung onto monsters while attacking to buff(Increase movement speed/Gives armor/Faster attack speed) them.

Goo

Goo can be harvested from the Goo Factory. Goo is used to produce monsters in the Hatchery. Goo isn't used in the building of buildings. Goo cannot be catapulted in during attacks.

Shiny

Shiny is not exactly a resource, but can be used to instantly finish building upgrades and many other things. Shiny can be bought with Facebook Credits, be rewarded from quests, and be picked from mushrooms.
