Tayuman LRT Station is a station on the Manila LRT Yellow Line (LRT-1). Like all other LRT-1 stations, Tayuman station is above-ground. The station serves Santa Cruz in Manila and is located at the corner of Rizal Avenue and Tayuman Street. The station is named after Tayuman Street.
Tayuman station serves as the tenth station for LRT-1 trains headed for Baclaran, the thirteenth station for trains headed to North Avenue, and is one of the five LRT stations serving Santa Cruz District, the others being Blumentritt, Bambang, Doroteo Jose, and Carriedo.
Nearby landmarks
The station is close to the old San Lazaro Hippodrome, where today's SM City San Lazaro sits and is also considered a gateway to the University of Santo Tomas. Other nearby landmarks include the San Lazaro Hospital Compound which houses the Department of Health central offices; the Dangwa flower market, Espiritu Santo Church, Avida Towers San Lazaro, Celadon Manila Park and Residences and Vertex BPO Towers. Tayuman street between Rizal Ave. and Felix Huertas serves as a Religious Articles Haven because of its many religious articles shops like the SVD-Catholic Trade Manila Inc. and Sto. Nino Religious Articles.
Transportation links
Like its neighbor Blumentritt, commuters can take the many jeepneys or taxis to Tayuman station. Buses that ply the Taft Avenue route also stop near the station.
Because of its proximity to SM City San Lazaro, jeepneys and taxis can also take commuters to and from the station going to the mall.
