Stoic Bliss (SB) is a Bangladeshi American hip hop band from Queens, New York. They're the self-proclaimed "fathers of Bangla hip hop". It consists of hip hop artist Kazi & rap artist AC1D.
History
Early years
Back in 2003, the group were only experimenting with the fusion of Bangla and hip hop music & used to release them online. But they were barely promoted, so, most of the potential listeners remained unaware about the existence of the group. but later their experimental projects transformed into a revolution. Stoic Bliss officially started their journey while they met native producer Rajib Rahman, better known as Double R, who produces most the sb tracks in his studio in Jackson Heights. Ac1D however, is the rapper that has a capability to do rap fluent in Bengali and ingenuously switch back to English. Kazi is the main vocalist/singer in the group who plays the melodies in the right note. They both team up with more talented musician for the perfect team.
Lights Years Ahead (2005–2006)
The band's debut album Lights Years Ahead (আলোক বর্ষ দূরে) was released in Bangladesh in June, 2006 with producer Double R signing with the leading record label G-series of Bangladesh. The debut single Abar Jigay was a instant hit in urban places, specially among the young generation. Bengali audience's world-wide tuned in to greet Bengali Hip-Hop at its purest form with open arms. Hit single Abar Jigay made the groups name and popularity spread like wild fire across every nation. Light Years Ahead sold well over 250,000 copies within the first 10 months, making Stoic Bliss the next big thing to hit the markets of Bangladesh. Through their album, word of mouth and shows their demand increased, hip-hop became a fixed genre that squeezed its way through and found acceptance in the Bengali communities world-wide. Other songs like Mayabi Chokh, Shesh Barer Moto, Chow Mei Fun & all others were also succeed to hit the new wave to listeners. This album featured early Stoic Bliss members: Xtro, B1shop, Tizzy Montana, Rul, Fly and Mana, the only female member of the group. Hip hop was relatively unpopular in Bangladesh and Bangla hip hop was unheard of. Stoic Bliss caused a new interest for hip hop and rap music in Bangladesh. The album sold about 250,000 copies in 10 months.
Lead single Abar Jigay is a reference to the Sean Paul's 1998 hit single Deport Them-instrumental
Kolponar Baire (2006–2007)
Stoic bliss released their second album Kolponar Baire (Beyond the Imagination) mid of the 2007 with the same production. Before that The album was preceded by the single "Abar Abar Jigay" which commenced for radio play at beginning of 2007. Due to success of the last album their second was highly anticipated to it's fan rage. Stoic bliss bought changes into their vocal line up but kept fresh & new taste in their all songs. This album features an intro track produced by renowned Bangladeshi composer Fuad Al-Muqtadir.
Upcoming Projects (2008–2012)
After second album the band didn't appeared in albums for few years & minimized their performences due to members career purpose. Though Kazi was heard on serveral mixed albums & featured in album such as Lal Miah. After a long break Stoic bliss has announced their shortly return. Few of their teaser of upcoming songs was promoted on their facebook, soundcloud & otheir pages. Release date is to be announced soon.
