Exact Holding N.V. (Euronext: EXACT) is a Dutch software company, founded in 1984. It provides enterprise software applications and related professional services, targeting primarily on small to medium-sized businesses.
Headquartered in Delft, Netherlands, it has subsidiaries and offices in over 30 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, North Ameicam, Oceania, and South America. Exact is listed on Euronext and is included in the Amsterdam Small Cap Index (AScX). The company’s flagship products are Exact Globe (ERP and accounting), Exact Synergy and Exact Online.
History
Exact Software was founded in 1984 in the city of Delft. Six students turned their first accounting software together, aiming on small and medium sized enterprises. Within ten years time, Exact Software had already became the Dutch leader in software for financials administration. For this achievement, the company received the King William I-plaque for young entrepreneurship in 1995. Exact declared their success being a result of a product, tailored on Dutch laws and regulations, and the high level of service that was offered to customers.
In the eighties, the company's geographical focus was on the Netherlands. Over the years, the company grew by several acquisitions. In 1994, Delft rival Grote Beer was acquired, at that moment one of the major software suppliers of the Netherlands, with an annual revenue of 100 million guilders (45 million euro). In 2005, AllSolutions (business software for medium-sized service providers and suppliers in the non-profit sector) and Kooijman Software (business software in the field of construction and education) were added to the series of acquisitions.
The first acquisition of a non-Dutch company took place in 1989, with the Belgian companies Cubic and Cobul. Furthermore, offices were opened in the United Kingdom, Germany and Russia. By 1995, about 20% of the revenue was made outside the Netherlands.
In 1999, Exact became listed on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
In 2001, Exact acquired US manufacturing ERP software provider Macola.
In 2007, Exact purchased Longview Holdings for US $51.5 million. Longview is a Toronto-based company providing corporate performance management and related software.
